Last night the Bloomington City Council heard Capital Projects plans for FY 2025, that starts May 1st.
You can see all the slides from the presentation here: https://www.bloomingtonil.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/30100
My highlights:
This is the City’s portion, the County and Normal also contribute. A grant pays for most of this trail. Ever see anyone using it? I believe it goes all the way to Chenoa. Building a trail to Champaign is occasionally floated. That should be dead until someone studies if this trail is ever used!

Will these chargers give away electricity too? https://blnnews.com/2024/02/17/free-electricity-but-only-for-your-ev/

Incidents weren’t specified – just the need because of problems in the garages.

This isn’t close to being enough money:

Numerous department heads made very brief presentations. I chose the fire department as the most interesting.

The land purchase is not for a station on the north-east side. The chief wants another centrally located station. See the locations of current stations here: https://www.bloomingtonil.gov/departments/fire/station-info
Station 5 is not listed. The chief did mention future stations on the east side and west side. Evidently #5 will remain a warehouse.
Just hit play to hear this part of the meeting. The entire video is only a little over an hour including a Public Comment near the beginning from Jackie Beyer. It’s worth seeing where you money will be spent. Of course the Coliseum, BCPA, and zoo are on the list. Mollie Ward wants solar panels investigated when roofs are repaired and replaced: BCPA, fire station #1, and zoo. (53:55)

FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND for a roof replacement?!? Are they ripping out and replacing the joists?!? Gold inlays every three feet or what?!? Holy crap Batman! Crash! Boom! Bang!
I live in Mclean and we see 2 – 4 people a week use it.
Wow! Multimillion $ project for 2-4 people
