EV owners don’t pay motor fuel taxes, even though they drive on the same roads as those of you who do.
Buy an EV (that most people can’t afford) and the taxpayers will subsidize it with a tax credit.
In 10 years, that EV will likely be junk because replacing the batteries is too expensive—unless technology advances rapidly.

Summary:
People who are wealthy enough to buy an EV receive subsidies from those who cannot afford one. They don’t purchase your gas, but you end up buying the electricity they evidently can afford. Brilliant!
Of course, all taxpayers funded the chargers; grants aren’t free money.
If EVs were truly a great invention, the government wouldn’t need to incentivize people to buy them.
So, if the BLONO commies aren’t charging EV customers for the electricity they are getting for “Free”, what is BLONO paying using our tax dollars to Ameren for those kilowatts? Is there a FOIA in the works to find out?
There is no control on the left’s ability to advantage and give away taxpayer money to the ideologies they support, even when a large portion of society has seen no reason to agree with their ideology.
It’s fine if they want to give up their own resources for dubious causes, but they have no right to take mine. Unless we don’t count… and we don’t.
People who can afford expensive EV’s get free charging AND don’t pay taxes at the pump for road repair (EV’s are harder on the roads because they are MUCH heavier vehicles). Plus they get tax breaks when the buy an EV. What a racket.
I think if you buy a gun the city should give you free ammo.
I’m going to take my rusty old Dodge from the 60’s over to an uppitity town EV charging unit and plug it in. Yeah for fun, I’m going to retrofit it with a plug that is not connected to anything and see what happens. Just take up some space save the taxpayers some money. Makes me smile just thinking about it.
Be careful Judge Harpo Marx might see you and sue for misrepresentation of the value of your truck and fine you $50,000. And take your license away so you can’t operate your vehicle in the state of Illinois. (Disregard the misplaced reply below)

Just wait until the taxpayers see that electric bill! The chargers don’t work run on air after all. They run on electricity. Think about how much your electric bill is and just imagine what taxpayers will pay in electricity for all those chargers!
Since the chargers run on electricity and electricity is produced by fossil fuel it’s going to create on big carbon footprint. Think the global warming beings thought of that? Basically,Koos and his global warming buddies are contributing to global warming!
