The policy under Tim Gleason in the City of Bloomington is to hire employees who resemble the people they serve. Just listen for 25 seconds:
Gleason is talking about the rebranding program the Council never approved but now is expected to continue funding. If the majority of the Council wasn’t socialist the dollars Gleason can spend without a vote would be cut tomorrow. Right now it’s $50,000.
Tim Gleason’s comment is racist because he is hiring employees based on the color of their skin. Next he will have only people of color working in areas of town where other people of color live.
This division in the City of Bloomington is seen as Marxist in pursuit of equity. Meritocracy is what great employees and citizens expect. They don’t want to pay employees who forget to bolt the plane door! Look at Boeing’s woke policies.
Does Tim only see white doctors because they look like him? Only a racist would care what color the person saving your life is. Only a racist would expect specific numbers of races to be employed by the city too.
People don’t care about the color of your skin; they do care about how much tax money is wasted on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. Tim Gleason is squandering your money.
The small number of people who vote in local elections allowed this. Do you want a government that solely considers the color of your skin? It’s time for common sense to prevail; enough with divisive ideology!
People of color should be outraged because they will never know if they were hired to meet quotas or because they were genuinely qualified. Judging anyone based on unchangeable attributes must cease. It’s ridiculous!

It is certainly ok to be inclusive in recruiting but you can never be exclusive when you hire, fire or promote.
If hiring the best person for the job is inclusive I agree.
Yes it is inclusive when you say – “We will not exclude someone from being considered for hire based on their identities.” (Skin color, sex, etc.)
But when you mix Equity into the equation it becomes. “We will only consider someone with predetermined identities.” This actually negates inclusion and is against the law.
I see a mega lawsuit against Bloomington on horizon. White applicants can make millions off Tim’s racist policies. Tim can’t not now prove the white applicants weren’t overlooked because of color. Great job Tim! You’re opening not only yourself but Bloomington up to a heap of trouble.
