What is Bloomington doing at Rt 9 and Veterans?

It contains this pic:

Next, keep in mind Bloomington will be rebranding itself: https://blnnews.com/2024/02/28/do-you-only-see-white-doctors-gleason/

Of course rebranding is just one of the many things government employees do for themselves when their job is supposed to be making life better for citizens.

A reader sent this pic last week:

Since the design can only really be seen from the air, can you tell what it is?

The reader wasn’t sure, but he/she thought it was the current City logo – Chevron planters.

If true, the City is using taxpayer money to create flower beds in a pattern they plan to replace.

I call that brilliant work! 🤦‍♀️

  1. Insurance and College town and Chamber of Commerce WOWZA marketing (Decades old target marketing and ad “rebrand after rebrand)

keeps em all in business I guess and “attracting too talent” to the city

    puke

  2. I thought IDOT was going to redesign the goofiest intersection in the world (Rt 9 and Veterans)? Will that decorative planter be in the way of the redesigned intersection? I also thought Rt. 9 was going to be resurfaced from the west side of town all the way to Carnahan Dr (former entrance to the airport terminal) on the east side, sidewalks made ADA compliant, and bike lanes added in some areas by the end of last year.

I noticed Rt 9 was resurfaced on the west side, but didn’t even get as far as Walmart. They also removed and replaced the center strip of pavement in the lanes going past the dying mall. I’m guessing the state budget wasn’t quite balanced like Gov. Prickster claims it is, so there wasn’t enough money to pay for the whole Rt. 9 project. I’m also guessing the sanctuary state of Illinois is paying out millions more (or billions?) for illegal invaders since the Soros Marxists regained control of the WH in 2020.

    1. The “resurfacing” of RT 9 will continue for 2-3 years. They started in the West and are heading East. At some point, RT. 9 will be directed away from Bent Elementary and instead go by Holy Trinity/Phoenix Towers/St. Vincent Depaul food pantry making that portion on Locust 2-way instead on the current 1 way. I would certainly l hope someone has the foresight to consider the traffic pattern around BJHS and BHS when those portions are being resurfaced. Logic would tell ANYONE to work on that portion during the summer months when there is NO school
