Were those tears Tom Crumpler?

By: Diane Benjamin

Alderman Tom Crumpler gave an impassioned speech pertaining to the plight of illegals and local housing. Of course his version is “migrants”. He based his comments on this WGLT story: https://www.wglt.org/local-news/2024-03-22/it-is-difficult-right-now-housing-coalition-cites-ongoing-challenges-in-bloomington-normal

A couple of points that are evidently way over Tom’s head:

“Migrants” are abused long before they illegally enter the country. Many women and children are raped enroute to the border. Every illegal who crosses the border has to pay the cartels before they can enter the country. Modern day slavery exists, this time violent Mexican cartels will kill you and family members if they don’t get paid. Open borders isn’t compassion when cartels are filthy rich abusing people.

Crumpler claimed some area landlords are abusing “migrants”. Think back to Bloomington’s COVID policies Tom. Landlord weren’t allowed to evict anyone for non-payment of rent and some were stuck with water bills their tenants didn’t pay.

Landlords that still exist are going to be picky about who they rent to. They can’t afford to not get paid again. “Migrants” don’t have a credit history to be checked or an employment history. It shouldn’t be a surprise people in the business of renting property they bought aren’t going to rent to them. Slum landlords might because they have little to lose.

Open your home Tom, don’t expect business owners to sacrifice what you don’t. Pass the word to your leftists buddies too. It is a sad situation, blame those who allowed it to happen.

Just hit play to hear Tom. He’s up for election early next year. Ward 9 deserves better.

  1. Hey Tom Crumpler – stop acting like high rent is due to landlords and start taking accountability.

Rents are being driven-up by the sky high taxes and fees imposed on landlords by you and the group!
Also adding to the higher rent is this PURE CRAP STATE ECONOMY – the cost of labor is very high, even for basic clean-up or demo work; material prices have doubled, gasoline is almost $4/gallon, and on-and-on

So Tom Crumpler…seriously, GO AWAY with your blame towards the landlords for the rental prices! Try taking a look a this economy (especially at the state-level in Illinois and also locally with what your crew is doing here in McLean County) and maybe you can connect the dots on why rents have gone up! Here is a hint: It is NOT the landlords

    1. Stuck…..you are 1000% correct!! Crumpler, Gleeson and the rest of the progressive socialists that infect Bloomington can house these dirt bags. I am opposed to low income housing, taxation $$ for illegals or whatever they are called. The tent city in Bloomington rests on the lap of the City of Bloomington. Tax and fee increases by the nearly 200 taxing bodies in the City and McLean County are passed onto these “homeless” and illegals and the taxpayers. Bloomington should follow Flordia’s laws on homeless types.

  2. The only reason the leftist progressive marxist democrats want illegal aliens here is so they vote for leftist progressive marxist democrats. They literally sanction human trafficking, rape, and abuse to get them here. How’s that for those fake tears and that fake compassion? What a bunch of posers.

  3. There is a lot of good people on this site with good ideas mostly related to the good old days of honor to country. Ya all gotta band together and run for office. Work your tails off in your campaigns. The replacement of these marxist fools of this town can happen with a unified effort. Get it done soon or continue to suffer the consequences. I moved out of state six years ago or I would do it myself. Good luck.

  4. Notice how Crumpler will not actually name these allegedly ‘predatory’ landlords.

Go on Tom , do tell. Which specific landlords or Property Management Companies are exploiting and preying on migrants ?

Name them. Yep. That’s what I thought.

Tom Crumplets virtue signaling might play in ward 4 or 6 , but in ward 9 he just sounds like a delusional crybaby.

      1. Jim Fruin. Solid , level headed conservative with a long record or public and charitable service to our community.

  5. We had Sheila and then the council person for our area was crumps. I believe our area changed boundaries.

  6. As a constituent, I reached out to Crumpler twice. Zero response either time. I reached out to Donna Boelen, and I had a call back almost immediately. I would love to have Kim Bray back. At least it seemed like she cared.
