Bloomington won’t mention the water tower they already have but don’t use

Tonight’s agenda: https://d3n9y02raazwpg.cloudfront.net/cityblm/f6fa5291-5bbe-11ee-ae13-0050569183fa-d854eb82-3702-4140-9de6-ac3a8e3f379d-1712335286.pdf

If you forgot or never heard, Bloomington has a water tower that has never been used because it wasn’t built high enough: https://blnnews.com/2015/08/04/more-ineptness/

That one won’t be mentioned tonight because the City must maintain the appearance of competence.

On the agenda is building another one:

This one disturbs me since I have an accounting background:

I looks to me like this auditor has been used since 2016. Approving this contract means the same auditor will be used for more than 10 years. The documentation claims the City systems are “complicated” and this auditor is equipped to deal with it. Using the same auditor for this many years develops a cozy relationship that defies the purpose of hiring an independent auditor.

Just like the above, the same people shouldn’t be on boards and commissions for many years. Two are being reappointed to the Library Board, they were first appointed in 2016 and 2017. The echo chamber on that board will continue.

The budget will be approved in addition to these two items:

See the rest of the agenda above. Lots of spending and HUGE dollar items. Of course those numbers aren’t big for government.

  1. Where is the unused water tower?
The streetscape for everyone has to include the homeless, they make the current downtown streetscape sooo inclusive.
