Rent control – More to the Story

By: Diane Benjamin

Communities can already control rent increases – Quit raising property taxes! Quit pretending the needs of government are superior to the needs of people actually earning the money you take. People need to quit electing big government spenders who created the current destructive inflation by printing money.

This would be Game Changing legislation. Housing shortages will be epic as landlords leave the market.

The rent control goal is to make landlords and renters equal. Renters have no skin in the game. Landlords do. People who invest their own money to provide housing will stop if government makes the rules instead of the free market. Nothing works outside of capitalism.

Two words: Property Rights

The chief sponsor is a social justice warrior: https://www.rephoanhuynh.com/about-hoan

In other words, the rights of people who risk their own money have to be diminished so people who have nothing to lose benefit. Equity is un-American. Illinois and every authoritarian city and country are proof it doesn’t work.

It sounds so sweet to let communities decide themselves. The referendum will be on the ballot for local elections few people vote in. Easy passage.

  1. On top of everything else, JB just signed the “No Landlord Retaliation Act” which gives even more rights to tenants. Just as bad is Kamala’s price freeze on groceries. Better stock up on food now and sign a looooong lease with your current Landlord!

  2. So the chief sponsor is of Chinese descent! His parent must be so proud. If Mao were alive would he be a member of the infamous Red Guard?

According to a Red Guard leader, the movement’s aims were as follows:

“Chairman Mao has defined our future as an armed revolutionary youth organization …. So if Chairman Mao is our Red-Commander-in-Chief and we are his Red Guards, who can stop us? First we will make China Maoist from inside out and then we will help the working people of other countries make the world red … and then the whole universe.[4]”

“Mao proclaimed the People’s Republic of China in October 1949 and began his collectivization campaign shortly after. Property rights were systematically eradicated under Mao, with grave consequences to social order.”

Now Kamala’s comment “unburdened by what has been” is making more and more sense.

  3. So Huynh’s family receives asylum from what was possibly a Conservative D.C. government in order to flee from a government that owns your possessions, more than likely raises their son to have the same ideology as the communist government that they supposedly despised and presto! We got us a foreign-born marxist in our state government. Thank you and you’re welcome Huynh family!

This is yet another example of a lack of assimilation and that Houses, both State and Federal, need a good house cleaning.

  4. China was in Viet Nam? Vietnam is a separate country. Is That’s why you’re racist? Your grasp on history is highly questionable.

The function of the Treasury Department is to print MONEY. If the Treasury Department didn’t print money, banks, and everyone on this comment board wouldn’t have actual cash.

Inflation is a supply and demand problem. The pandemic froze all international markets. When the pandemic ended demand outstripped supply. Thus inflation rose. Markets are now trading and inflation is lowering to 2.9.
