Tracking people downtown

By: Diane Benjamin

The Committee of the Whole meeting was short. If you want to know where your increased water rates are going, watch.

After that short presentation various departments recapped their accomplishments. Each gave a quick summary.

The most interesting part to me was when Alderman Jenna Kearns asked how Melissa Hon (Economic Development) came up with the numbers attending mostly outdoor events downtown. Just hit play below to hear the answer.

This is the website of the company Hon mentions: https://www.placer.ai/company/trust-center

The City has been using this since 2019. It tracks people using cell phone data. Placer.AI claims identifying information is stripped. Jump to this website that reviews the software: https://mspoweruser.com/placer-ai-review/

This excerpt is included:

If personal information is stripped from the data, how is that determined? What information does the City have on people attending events? Don’t have your phone with you downtown if you don’t want tracked. Remember the days when we somehow survived without one?

By government standards this software isn’t expensive. I found 2 payments. One is on the May 24, 2024 Bills and Payroll report. The other is on the May 22, 2023 report. It looks like this is the cost per year but I can’t say for sure without a FOIA. I don’t plan to file one.

  1. Surveillance Capitalists “public/private” partnerships in action.
Data and Geoloc abuses and device abuses are typical in McLean County (all the “cool” partners) gain off it all (Remember when we lived without all this)

Won’t be going anywhere downtown or stores in Normal cause they all clearly part of the “revolution” and money and data funnel.

  2. Gee,isn’t stealing information illegal? I know, only if you and I do it If government does it it’s not! Just remember, YOU ARE PAYING FOR THIS!

    1. not if u run the state septs and public/private partnerships apparently
calling it research and innovations and “data driven BI”

ISU, U of I and Pritzker (stakeholders & investors) and every state/local dept and industry and HR system infiltrated

Seem this roadmap for over a decade and here we area…

Insurance (mess) and social scoring and mass surveillance/stalking (Thanks CEOs)

Cyber and IT projects have been the quiet deception masqueraded as a security and safety savior contact tracing? I do…

Globalist, Neo Libs run McLean County and state (both sides of aisle)

  3. Remember Contact Tracing (Patriot Act and pre/post GDPR privacy and HIPPA and Geoloc abuses galore)

    Throughout Central Illinois

    Safety and Security folks YUCK

    Digital deception and abuses

  4. Someone needs to look into the “Mobilize” app and who is involved with that campaign tool. Seems like shady or BAD data handling and use and exploiting voter data.
