I get fundraising emails everyday demanding the Electoral College be abolished. I’ve been appointed to the Advisory Board to make that happen, just donate money.

What do they all have in common? If you don’t know you just might agree.
Since the Electoral College is in the Constitution it would take a Constitutional Amendment to abolish it. These emails make it sound like sending them money can get it done. It takes 36 states to pass and that will never happen for obvious reasons. The Electoral College gives every state a voice in presidential elections, 36 states aren’t going to abandon their right to a voice.
If presidents are elected by popular vote, candidates will only campaign where huge populations exist. Their time and money won’t be wasted on trying to get a large percentage of 1,000,000 votes in small states. Tim Walz would make Minnesota immaterial because they have less than 4,000,000 voters. Compared to the total who vote, which could be 150,000,000 people, their votes are tiny part.
National elections are merely a collection of state elections. Every state has votes assigned based on population. Election by popular vote disenfranchises every one who doesn’t live in a big blue city. Since all of the above know that and know they have close to a zero chance of accomplishing that goal, these never ending emails just want money. Evidently lying is profitable.

ok, do away with the electoral college, but to be eligible to vote one must provide proof of citizenship and that income taxes are paid.

Knowing that it can’t be done, the only reason they keep making the argument to eliminate the electoral college is that they know they can fool low knowledge voters into believing that it’s the “fair” thing to do, so vote democrat. They are sneaky little buggers and they’ll literally do anything to win.
They know winning is all that matters, how is immaterial.
Diane – thanks for reminding we readers the Electoral College is a provision in the U S Constitution. Simply due to this developing drama of this election, I decided to take a refresher read (via Audible) of our Constitution; with a PDF version for reference. My last complete run-through was via V. Fairfield at BHS in 1965. One should not let the title of “The U.S. Constitution for Dummies” fool one; I find it to be an approachable initial commentary of the history and the evolution over these 250+ years. And, in synch with your reminder, the detail of the process for a Constitutional Amendment is also a provision.
Diane I wish I had your confidence in the security of the electoral college. As more states turn blue the possibility looms larger. Working from home has allowed a mini migration of sorts from deep blue cities to bucolic rural America. States I never thought would turn have and states I thought were solid are now swing states. The illegal aliens affect it too…we won’t deport 20,000,000 people, the logistics alone are staggering. So, even if we can get and keep our voter rolls clean their kids will be eligible to vote. The landscape is changing rapidly.
DeSantis should have been the nominee because he knows how to win hearts and minds. GOP voters chose Trump instead
Not sure the relevance of your reply but you could be right about DeSantis. My take is more basic, “…you’re home from vacation only to find raccoons in your home tearing the place up and crapping everywhere. You don’t care what the exterminator looks like…tattoos, plumbers crack, chewing tobacco…you just want rid of the raccoons!!” I think Trump did a good job before but miss judged the depth of the “swamp” maybe this time he’ll fair better. But he won’t win….”they” won’t allow him to….DeSantis wouldn’t have been allowed to either.
Prepare for national upheaval in the near future. If by some Act of God Trump wins, the progressive Socialists will order their shock troops to take to the streets and set it all on fire. Also, they will put Trump in jail or refuse to certify the election if he does. If Harris wins, expect protests and isolated incidents of violence, especially if the voting totals don’t add up like last time. People aren’t going to go away quietly this time. Also, read an article on Conserative Treehouse today. More proof that J6 was planned and staged by Pelosi, Schumer, McDonnell and Pence. The denial of the courts to not hear election challenges are well explained. All four of the above knew exactly what they were doing.
MPEABODY I hope you’re wrong but I know you’re right. The BLMers, ANTIFA, Palestine supporters and every leftist group in the country will revolt. If Harris wins (I’m afraid she will, one way or another!) and if the conservatives say anything they’ll be jailed…..the left is ready, willing, and able to finish the job Obama started. The right doesn’t stand a chance….the military will follow orders from the WOKE commanders, they will turn on their neighbors and to make sure, the units will be switched around so they aren’t facing THEIR neighbors.
