Donna Boelen resigned from the Bloomington City Council yesterday. People paying attention to meetings know she has been participating remotely for quite awhile. The reason given was illness. I hope now she can recover from whatever is ailing her. Her voice will be missed.

Mayor Mwilambwe will be appointing her replacement. The person he picks will speak volumes about his integrity. Donna was a fiscal conservative with attention to details. Since her Ward picked her more than once she should be replaced by the same type of person.
Someone calling themselves Bistro Queen made this comment to the Abby Scott story. It’s always nice when the plan is in black and white:

We have reached a milestone of control on the county board and together with the Town of Normal progressive representation our entire region can be an oasis free of maga.
Mboka needs to avoid anyone this person agrees with. Donna Boalen wouldn’t have.
Voters can reject Jenna Kearns and Abby Scott April 1st. They can also reject Cody Hendricks as Mayor but he will still be alderman. Ridiculous early voting will be starting in February.
A progressive beacon of hope? Progressives turn everything to crap.
That’s when they get wiped out. People don’t bother to vote until they feel pain.
I hope Donna Boelen gets well soon . As a citizen of Bloomington I always appreciated Ms Boelens thoughtful input and insights into the city council. She is a GREAT Alderperson that is informed , reasonable and definitely added value to both the council and the city. Boelen exemplified what an Alderperson SHOULD be. Our city is weaker without her. Donna will be missed.
