Democrats, activists push to decriminalize sex work in Illinois

Members of the Sex Worker Advisory Group, or SWAG, said a bill to be filed in the 104th General Assembly that started last week will modernize existing laws and will prioritize the safety, privacy and dignity of adults engaged in consensual sex work.
“Full decriminalization of adult consensual sex work is proven to keep workers safe,” said the bill’s sponsor, state Rep. Will Guzzardi, D-Chicago. “It’s a policy that respects everyone’s rights to make private choices about their bodies, while freeing up law enforcement to focus on traffickers and violent abusers.”
This legislation proves how degenerate Illinois has become.

The group, many of whom identify as transgender, gender diverse, and/or queer, said they have been advocating for over three years to address the unique challenges faced by sex workers in Illinois.
“This bill represents a monumental step forward in recognizing the rights, safety and humanity of sex workers,” SWAG chair Reyna Ortiz said. “By passing this legislation, we will make Illinois a safer place for everyone, especially the most vulnerable in our communities.”

Legislation doesn’t protect anyone. It’s no different than sticking a No Guns Allowed sign on the door and expecting criminals to honor it. Those places become targets because nobody will be shooting back.

The only way prostitutes will be safe is getting them off the streets. Illinois can legalize Bunny Ranches and tax every act.
I assume if you wanted to live where sex work is legal you would move to Nevada. Democrats want to include a sex worker bill of rights. Pieces of paper are meaningless. Democrats keep trying to take away your rights in the real Bill of Rights. Nobody is going to be safer. Police will be forced to decide if somebody is trafficked or willing. Their pimp can probably clarify that one.

Or maybe they could have “came out” on top and profited from all the “backroom” lobbying.
Along with the LQBTG and Trans PEST workers, the SWAG lobbying group has gained ground with more politicians coming around to the that, the worlds oldest trade, needs to have legalization and protections such as healthcare, IE free abortions. This has always been the target market for Pritzkers abortion and baby parts or organ trade. Now he can legalize it. With a kidney at $70,000 on the black market, the elites have a secure supply, let alone the pharmaceutical industry.
