Tax The Rich

By: Diane Benjamin

Illinois Democrats (math challenged) are again pushing for a progressive income tax to fleece high earners. See this story: https://www.thecentersquare.com/illinois/article_a03a425a-f088-11ef-966a-23bfc0c98a8b.html?a

Since the left keeps trying to tax the rich simply because they earn more than average, they have no concept of what happens when that is enacted. Facts and a clear history are immaterial to people who think success needs punished with a higher tax rate. High earners have the ability to relocate to states that value them. Even less than high earners have fled Illinois because this state isn’t business or citizen friendly.

Illinois Democrats haven’t given up on a progressive income tax. When citizens said No No No when it was on the ballot. Democrats heard “maybe”.

This repeats every time it’s tried:

  1. The Maryland example is exactly what will and is playing out in Illinois.
Taxing the rich only chases investor dollars and entrepreneurs out of the state.

  2. PRITZKER (using his high taxes and his anti-business policies) has been closing businesses and/or running business owners and entrepreneurs out of Illinois his entire term.
U-Haul data reports that Illinois is one of the top states for 1-way/out-of-state moves.

  3. Indiana recently passed a resolution in its legislature to accept all eastern Illinois counties that have proposed secession to become part of Indiana. Although Illinois would never allow it, it illustrates border states are aware that a majority of Illinois citizens are not being properly represented and are willing to take in hard working and reliable people that can no longer tolerate being used by governments as tax slaves.
