Jenna Kearns violates City Code Too

By: Diane Benjamin

Cody violated City Code. Did Abby Scott do it too? See: https://blnnews.com/2025/03/23/fly-on-the-wall-cody-hendricks/

Will the McLean County Chamber of Commerce withdraw their endorsement of Kearns? If elected officials and those who want to be elected violate laws, why should anyone else obey them? These people are leading the City down a dangerous road.

If you aren’t a Democrat or a member of a labor union, Jenna Kearns won’t be working for you! Nonpartisan doesn’t matter to her.

What is the City of Bloomington going to do about Hendricks and Kearns? Cheat to win works in Bloomington? Will City Manager Jeff Jurgens, a lawyer, allow this abuse of City Code to go unchallenged?

Jenna Kearns is a lawyer! Do local lawyers and judges approve of her behavior? Do laws even matter? It’s getting hard to tell.

WGLT should have exposed Kearns, see this story: https://www.wglt.org/local-news/2025-03-19/bloomington-ward-1-council-candidates-have-contrasting-priorities

Excerpts:

Both candidates said they embrace the nonpartisan qualities of the city council. Based on groups Zimmerman embraces, Kearns said she’s not sure Zimmerman believes that.

Zimmerman noted Kearns campaign literature is partisan, promoting her support for Democratics and labor unions.

Leftist media like WGLT had a chance to hold candidates accountable by doing a little research. WGLT failed voters. Jenna Kearns is the one who doesn’t believe in a nonpartisan Council.

Read the article. Kearns wants to raise your property taxes.

Back side proves she paid for this mailer:

No wonder Jenna Kearns and Abby Scott (Ward 9) were scowling when Ben Zimmerman (Ward 1) was speaking at the NAACP candidate forum. Not agreeing with their ideology isn’t allowed.

  1. She needs to go in a big way! Another”woke” female. When will residents get off their butts and vote these people out. Kearns is looking to spend more money that we do not have. Cancel the downtown. Cancel anything that is not a necessary improvement. Cancel Kearns all the way around. She has done nothing for Ward 1 since elected.

  2. I went back and checked and he wasn’t there. I’m seeing now that he doesn’t even vote in municipal elections. My street is covered in Abby signs, even some of my conservative neighbors. Apparently she’s already knocked on their doors twice. My one neighbor talked to her for a half hour a few days ago and said was pretty nice. Kinda frustrated with my candidate to be honest, it doesn’t feel like he’s really interested.

  3. I mentioned this in another post but if this behavior is allowed to stand the end result will be a deterioration of the trust between citizens in our community. A further dividing of neighbor from neighbor lead by politicians who will consider a citizen’s political affiliation before they consider their concerns or complaints or individual needs. Local reps that encourage political dissidence rather than the common goods of community should not be allowed to lead.

If the powers that be don’t do something we will see the same kind of anger in Bloomington/Normal that we see on the national level. People destroying businesses as a form of political activism (with politicians supporting it). Personal assault crimes will increase based on political disagreements and fueled by activist local political representatives. We’ll see graffiti and property damage by citizens that feel righteous indignation over the political beliefs of others while local representative stand by and clap in agreement.

There has to be an abrupt stop to this now before it is too late.

    1. I don’t care which political persuasion these people are from. We need professionals (so to speak) making their job application to EVERY citizen (voting), not angry children pushing political identity politics, their personal worldviews and minority activist agendas on their neighbors. We have to live next to each other. All of that has no place in local politics.

  4. That Abby Scott AKA Mrs. Corey Beirne sure looks sour in that picture !

The fact that the Chamber ‘O Commerce is endorsing Kearns , a candidate that won’t say the Pledge of Allegiance and has violated the election law says a lot about how much that org. has fallen.
