Epic Media Fail: Ignore the uncomfortable

By: Diane Benjamin

Lots of local media was in the Council Chambers for Monday night’s meeting. Not one member of the media requested copies of what Jackie Beyer showed at Public comment. City Code is law in Bloomington, allowing violations means more violations will occur in the future. https://blnnews.com/2025/04/15/too-chicken-mboka/

Did media cover any violations?

WGLT did a story and even mentioned some public comments, not Jackie’s of course: https://www.wglt.org/local-news/2025-04-14/bloomington-council-passes-318m-budget-approves-major-redevelopment-projects

The “Voice of McLean County” WJBC only did a stories about the billing errors and water quality.

WEEK covered very little from the meeting, of course nothing about Jackie’s public comment: https://www.25newsnow.com/2025/04/15/bloomington-adopts-budget-thats-down-4-last-years-record-spending-city-finally-gets-good-news-about-water/

CIProud only mentioned the housing projects: https://www.centralillinoisproud.com/news/local-news/historic-building-bloomington-affordable-housing/

Pantagraph only covered the housing projects: https://pantagraph.com/news/local/government-politics/article_eca69d36-4efb-40df-b056-0aca11e3e81f.html#tracking-source=home-top-story

Want to know why Illinois is corrupt?

Because the press doesn’t believe in holding government accountable.

Media believes if they don’t report, it didn’t happen.

    1. Oh Dustin, I’ve been called worse by better, trust me honey. I’ll be in the garden at IWU all weekend if you care to come over and call me an idiot to my face. I’m a 60 year old, bad ass broad, but could probably take you down a peg. Tell you what, if you do show up, lunch is on me. We’ll go see my friends at Mugsy’s (GOP safe spot) and eat our weight in wings…how ’bout it bigmouth?
