The source to me the suspect was well known to law enforcement. Public Safety isn’t a priority since laws prevent detaining people like this. Police refused to respond yet again. That resulted in defenseless firemen and an EMT responding with no way to protect themselves.
Do all first responders need to be armed now because Illinois coddles criminals? Do they all need to wear bulletproof vests too?
Mental illness is not an excuse to endanger our heroes. Special laws should not apply to just them.
This is why police are supposed to be on the scene prior to fire an EMT and these emergencies to provide safety and security for first responders.
