Normal Fire Department: Start Here

Normal residents are concerned about the closing of the College Avenue fire station when they move to the new station east of Menards. That prompted me to look further into operations.

This is going to take more than one story, so stay tuned.

I sent a FOIA to Normal for a list of mutual aid calls in September and October to Bloomington. Normal and Bloomington cover calls for each other is needed.

The FOIA also included calls Normal has agreements to cover in Hudson, Lexington, and Towanda.

The easiest way to show you the calls was to put both months on calendars. If a location is listed more than once on the same day it is because Normal was there more than once on the same day.

In addition, I have 2 responses to Hudson without dates.

The below raises lots of questions. Bloomington also covered calls for Normal. I received those by FOIA too. That’s next.

  1. The area around the College Avenue station has a very large aging population. People who’ve lived in those houses since they were built. I guess Normal’s new policy is to let them die.
