Normal Township Taxes Going up

By: Diane Benjamin

See the comparison to last year and what the township just passed below.

The first column came from the County records stating property taxes Normal Township received in 2025: PDF page 7: https://www.mcleancountyil.gov/DocumentCenter/View/30349/Districts-1-100?bidId=

The second column came from the Normal Township levy they passed for money they want to receive in 2026 from property taxes. PDF page 4: https://normaltownship.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Normal-Township-LEVY-2025-FOR-2026.pdf

Yes, the township wants close to half a million more bucks just from property taxes. Elect socialists and your taxes always go up. That’s a 23.48% increase.

Obviously socialists need more money to give away, money buys votes while claiming compasion. (See Public Assistance and Senior Citizens Tax) Did you know lots of things at the ARC are free even for people who don’t live in Normal?

Of course the township meetings aren’t video taped and documentation is close to non-existent.

Don’t ask questions, you won’t get any.

The Road and Bridge Fund is seperate. This is what that fund received last year: PDF page 15 on the County link above

What they just passed: PDF page 3 https://normaltownship.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Road-and-Bridge-Levy-Ordinance-for-FY26.pdf

98% increase.

Congrats Normal

  1. When JB and friends (Democrats) drive the downstate road funds to Chicagoland, two things will happen: more downstate taxes and blaming Trump. Illinois is a cesspool of corruption, overwhelmingly led by Chicago/Cook County. When the federal government restricts or reduces that funding due to that corruption and illegal activity, they get mad and try to pin it on Trump.

Illinois is now claiming that preventing that funding from going to those who are not entitled to it or do not have a valid need for it is reducing its economic activity. Newsflash: that entitlement spending just taxes Peter to pay for not only Paul but also Bill and Sally who could work for their benefits.

  2. The factual information is that the highway department actually levied $733,254.00 last year, but that amount gets split between Township and Town of Normal. Last year the county sent 366,627.00 to Town of Normal and the rest Township got to keep. The levy increase is actually less than 5% for Road and Bridge from last year to this year. You can contact Highway Commissioner Arin Rader at arader@normaltownship.org if you have questions. The Board of Trustees is legally required to approve the highway commissioner levy and budget request. His department is completely separate from the General Township and Assessor’s office.

    1. Don’t care for Krystal, her politics, or her tactics, but as a former Township Board candidate, I can vouch that the post above is materially correct.
(‘Materially’ is legalese for ” ‘close enough’ or better “, because I didn’t dig in to validate minor details, not because I know of anything wrong with it.)
