The Annual Town Meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 14th at 7pm at the Activity and Recreation Center.
Voter check in will begin at 6:30 PM to verify your eligibility to participate in this meeting.
This year, there is an item on the agenda submitted via petition (who started it Krystle?) by voters in Normal Township to decide whether or not to put a question of public policy on the November General Election ballot for Normal Township voters only.
The question is:
“Shall the State of Illinois repeal its anti-BDS statute and permit state-funded institutions to divest from and boycott companies that profit from or enable Israel’s apartheid policies and human rights violations?”
This would be a non binding resolution for the November ballot that is similar to polling public opinion.
If this interests you one way or another, please attend the Township meeting to vote yes or no on this item.
Deplorable. When will people realize Islam, not just radical Islam, but Islam is the biggest threat there is to Western Culture and JudeoChristian values there is! Period. They’re entire belief system is the antithesis of what America is supposed to be.

They really don’t believe in an afterlife and see their relationship to God in earthly terms. In other words, Muslims and Jews really don’t care for anyone that aren’t members of their clubs. Best to stay out of their territorial squabbles and let God sort it out.
MPEABODY I know you’re correct BUT, Jews aren’t religiously bound to convert or kill us…..Muslims are. Additionally, there are relatively but a handful of Jews as compared to Muslims. I prefer to take out the guaranteed threat and live with “Gods Chosen” and see how that goes…..it was written Ishmael would have decendents as plentiful as the stars or sand, or something, and they’d have constant conflict. The resolution was brought forward via petition of normal township voters not me or the board, like the post clearly states. Also, you DO have to be eligible to participate in a township town meeting. Only township voters can vote on the issue. Voter eligibility aside…….the fact you promote boycotting Israel for defending themselves, especially when Palestine should be eliminated, is simply deplorable! Supporting Islam is supporting the destruction of our society, which fits perfectly with Marist ideology.

America is a free country and we have protections of religious expression. If you don’t want to be a Muslim, don’t be a Muslim. If you don’t want to be a Christian, don’t be a Christian. Nobody is “forcing” you to convert to something and practice it’s ideologies and values. This is a standard that can only be upheld when the contrary is you can choose to practice whatever religion you deem fit. It’s a choice, and it’s liberty. Wiping countries of the maps does not protect you any further, in fact it makes it more likely for you to be in danger as wars continue to escalate and radical extremists from all sides are the ones with the microphones. Palestine is not a threat to the US. Sending billions of our dollars to Israel is. And, either way: America is under more a threat from Christian/Jewish Nationalists than Islam, full-stop, fact.

That wasn’t incriminating people who were pro-life, it banned the use of force, threat of force, and physical obstruction that made people be kept out of the reproductive healthcare. This doesn’t just limit itself to abortion, either, it includes contraceptives and sexually transmitted illness tests, which were largely being blocked by “protesters” who assumed everyone who goes to Planned Parenthood was getting an abortion.

And you also don’t know the life I’ve lived. I was young once, your age, long ago. I hope your young life doesn’t duplicate mine….I’ve had it great most of my adult life but when I was young things were different. I experienced some very sobering ‘truths’ that have shaped my world view and my realizations of mankind. Things I hope you never have to experience.
You think my life is easy? I made it, as I always have, but before any of that I’ve lived through both of my parents fall into substance abuse and violence and commit various crimes until they both were jailed and I was put into the foster care system for years, where I watched terrible things happen every day. I was finally adopted but my relationship with them was strained and it led to them ultimately moving to Florida and me staying here and living independently as a seventeen year old. I’m not some regular spoiled kid — politics has always affected me. The legalization of marijuana got my mom out of jail. Whoever is elected, especially in terms of governor, affected the foster care system and no matter what it was so broken and my goal going into politics is to do heavy reforms. Same thing with healthcare, especially rehab — which is too unaffordable (which I suppose affordability is a hoax, according to Trump) for most people to genuinely get help. The gas prices and economy has led to me working several jobs and paying stupid amounts of taxes that should be used to fund things like healthcare and social welfare programs that go to people who actually need it, not some foreign war.
You want to talk about your experience in life as a way to make it seem as though I shouldn’t have these opinions, however you’ve had so much life to build yourself up prior to the current state of the world. The world right now, as it is, is the world I am living in. My youth means I have no choice but to find my way in this world as it’s current state pushes me down. I’m finding my way, and that is exactly why I have the right to every opinion I’ve shared. You do too. We can debate, it’s exciting and fun for me, but don’t act as though you understand my character or experiences because of my youth.

If someone was spewing the same nonsense about Christianity, maybe you’d see. And I know that you are going to refer to terrorist organizations, which is why I’m going to say this:
1. Islam is a large religion. The huge and vast majority of the Muslims who practice it are not threats at all. You use all these extremists as examples when I can do the same thing for radicalized Christians who commit large mass shootings for “their religion” — and I know this isn’t a hard topic for you, because I guarantee you’re the type of person to defend Israel.
2. Look around our community. We have a large amount of faithful people who are some of the most genuine and honest and caring people I’ve ever met. They aren’t monsters, they’re Americans as well. And one one of the greatest things about being an American is you get to practice your religion and continue to serve in a community regardless of the religion that is. That’s why we have Trump (a non-Christian), Bernie Sanders (Jewish), Zohran Mamdani (Who’s doing incredible, effective work in NYC), Mike Johnson (Christian-Nationalist), Mike Pence (Christian), Joe Biden (Catholic), etc. This diversity shouldn’t scare you any more than the US Constitution should.
I understand you’re scared because you’ve been fed evil hatred about these opposing religions but I suggest you go out and meet these people. The same government you distrust is the same one who is hand feeding you these radicalized ideas, where do you draw the line?

I’m not proud of them but I believe a large issue is because of how over funded the boards are and the superintendents and the administration while the individuals teachers and school have a very slim amount of funding to do projects and get appropriate materials. A lot of kids are denied access to hands on activities and field trips and really anything more than just a YouTube video with guided notes. I don’t think, also, that testing scores represent the actual substance of what’s being thought rather than how it’s being tought.

This reminds me of a Bloomington Township Special meeting from a few years ago where a similar topic unrelated to Township purview was presented by Sonny Garcia and pals. The petition was voted down by a large majority. Government agencies should stay in there lane and focus their energies on local issues.

Unlike most local races, there was a full slate of good Normal Township candidates last election. They all lost. So now the township is paying a generous ‘full time employee’ salary to a part-time supervisor (plus the salary of her new assistant) who uses the position primarily to push her toxic-to-American-society political agenda.
SUPPORT GOOD CANDIDATES! Vote, encourage others to vote, volunteer to have a sign put up, volunteer to make phone calls or walk neighborhoods or walk in parades (Remember when Stan Nord’s supporters were the largest section of the St Patty’s parade – even bigger than the bands?), and donate money. Please Offer to donate to your preferred candidates – good people are often shy about asking for money, and a decent campaign costs thousands of dollars.
RECRUIT GOOD CANDIDATES! Good people are often busy with work, family, and other obligations. Tell them you’ll support them with as much of the above as you can manage, including trying to get others to do so. Organization is where many good candidates fail, because they aren’t political opportunists, they’re just good people who get fed up up against people who have planned for years on how take power.
BE GOOD CANDIDATES! If you don’t have a good candidate and can’t find one, Become One! Last local election saw very few races contested. We need more people willing to step up, even if only to get their names on the ballot so voters have the option of ‘Not The Same Old Politics As Usual’.
Many say Illinois is a corrupt lost cause. They may be right. But if we can make it better, or at a minimum wake more people up, we should. That’s ‘Good people Not doing nothing.’
