This is what intelligence looks like these days

The recycle bins behind Walmart In Normal are clearly marked. It’s even marked in 2 languages:

This is what was in this bin today:

It must be too hard to walk 7-8 feet to the east and put cardboard in the bin marked CARDBOARD!

There was also cardboard in the paper bin. Last I heard The Town of Normal was paying Midwest Fiber to furnish the bins and recycle the contents.

Every time they have to pay employees to separate items because some people are too lazy to do it right, the cost to Normal taxpayers goes up.

  1. The level of stupid is amazing. Yes, some of it is laziness but you wouldn’t believe the level of stupid I see working with the public.

    1. Must be a slow news day in Ellsworth that you have to rant about Walmart’s recycling bins.

      1. I’ve done stories about those bins before, maybe you missed them. Why does Normal have to pay to get a product Midwest wants hauled away? Maybe recycling isn’t profitable? Maybe the stuff gets thrown away?

Maybe you have nothing better to do?

  2. Thank you Diane I remember your other stories about the abuse to the recycling bins so sad that it’s obvious that those that have an issue with your observation
obviously are simple minded to the problem of those that can’t read or refuse to follow simple directions.

  3. When Midwest Fiber (now called Circular Service) hosted a tour of their updated facilities several years ago, “people” were the last line of defense in recycling. Basically there was a huge area where all the recyclables were dumped, since both communities use single-stream recycling. A front-loader scooped up the materials and placed items on a inclined conveyor belt which went about separating items, bottles, cardboard, metal, aluminum plastics, etc. At the very end there were people who separated items the machine missed.
