Another Weekend in Wisconsin

By: Diane Benjamin

We spent the weekend in Wisconsin visiting our 4 months old adorable grandson. While northern Illinois is littered with solar fields and wind turbines, we saw none north of the border.

We always go through Belvidere instead of Rockford. Besides avoiding paying to leave Illinois and come back, we need a driving break by the time we get there. This gas the gas price in Belvidere:

Twenty miles north in Clinton Wisconsin, this was the gas price:

Clinton is frequently the cheapest gas, but even farther down the road we saw $3.74.

Coming back on 39 we saw one Love’s north of LaSalle/Peru for $3.99. No one else was under $4.00 a gallon. We take the backroads to 39 through Towanda and Hudson. Gas was $.15 higher a gallon in Towanda.

Who runs the State matters. How are the roads great in Wisconsin and crap in Illinois? Blame the clowns running Illinois. When electricity is unaffordable and unavailable, blame them too. Wind and solar can not provide the power Illinois needs. It also broadcasts ideology is all that matters, results not so much.

  1. Last week, there was a 40 cent difference in gas prices here in town. 4.29 @ Veterans and Morrissey compared to 3.89 on Market and I-74

    1. Perhaps you should lay the blame on Trump. His illegal war with Iran has effectively risen the price for gas. Inflation has skyrocketed to 4 percent. Food prices have not come down. So boo hoo on gas prices. You voted for this, I don’t buy your crocodile tears.
      ..

It’s not Pritzker problem, it’s the folly of Trump who started a war with no clear strategy or cognitive plan to win the war he started.

In my extensive travels in Wisconsin there are plenty of wind turbines and solar panels Wisconsin’s roof tops.

      1. I agree, he’s the reason the gas prices (and everything else) are high. However, Illinois taxes the crap put of gas, hence Illinois gas being more expensive that Wisconsin gas. Those taxes are a Pritzker problem.

  2. Thanks for visiting, Wisconsin is paradise compared to the 24 years I spent living in Illinois.
However the Dems are riding hard to turn this place into Illinois.
State Supreme Court with the liberal majority will work hard to overturn Act 10 and allow public employee pensions to duplicate Illinois.

  3. Yep! I woke up this morning to see the sun, blue sky, and warm weather.
Of course I immediately blamed Trump for such a beautiful day.
I feel so sorry for those people suffering from TDS.
And for all you Prickster supporters gas tax was 17 cents on a gallon of gas when he took over as governor it’s now what over 47cents? Go ahead make my day tell me that Trump is the reason our gas tax is so high.

  4. I guess there is another solar panel farm south on Morris Ave. just before you get to the overpass over I-74 on the west side. At first I thought they were building a storage rental place and a few weeks later I went by I knew what it was. I don’t know how many acres of farm ground it covers.

I think if I was a farm owner and had a chance to sell out and move out of IL I probably would. Why keep paying higher property taxes. Just rid myself of it.

Luckily I don’t drive much with my diesel truck…. I paid $5.59 a gallon yesterday. A diesel truck forum I belong to I’ve seen some prices in Canada being posted over $7 a gallon (liter converted to gallon price). Like I told someone else. I don’t care. I’m not voting for any Democrat ever. Iran is long over due to be reigned in. Especially because they are a high risk nuclear weapons country. Any country the executes athletes I say the terrorist leaders deserve it.

You also have to remember Biden drained the Strategic Oil Reserves. I know the first thing people say well why hasn’t Trump replenished that. I read up on it and it’s not like government calls up Exxon and says hey fill er up. It’s more complicated than that.

  5. Ok you never Trumpers where are you?
Iran a death to America for over 40 years implicated in funding terrorist that kill Americans. A country that has killed over 30 thousand of their own people for what? A country that’s capable of doing this and close to developing nuclear weapons and don’t tell me that they aren’t capable of using them.
Thank God that we have a president that had enough balls unlike other weak presidents to call Iran out and when they wouldn’t negotiate he did what had to be done.
And every day we read where an American was killed by a person here in our country illegally and some people still think it’s terrible for our president to gather these people up and remove them from our country and yes innocent people here illegally are caught up with this activity too bad the bad people came with them, but again thank God that we have a president that says not in my America the border is closed and the bad illegals are going to be caught and shipped out hopefully before they
    actually kill some one!
And guess what I actually don’t like our president his personality and behavior not the best I would never watch his tv show, but he loves America and he is doing what Americans voted him to do something weak presidents before him refused to do. And no he is not a king in couple more years he will be gone, leaving a much safer and more secure America
