Elected Officials Costing You Money:

By: Diane Benjamin

Filing a Statement of Economic Interest is required by law to reveal conflicts of interest.

Evidently the fines of $100 a day don’t start the day filing is past due. Fines should start immediately to cover the cost of Certified Mail and the staff time it takes to process mailings.

Filing was due May 1sr. The County contacted everyone who was required to file. Note when the certified mail was sent.

Most of these people you have probably never heard of. Two County Board members failed to file however:

Corey Beirne is running for reelection this year. Eric Hanson’s term expires in 2028.

Beirne’s wife, Abby Scott, managed to file on time. So did Hanson’s partner, Cody Hendricks. Both of them are on the Bloomington City Council.

Are laws immaterial? Are both hiding something? Both know the process since they have been through it before. No excuse is acceptable.

  1.  “Statement of Economic Interest is required by law to reveal conflicts of interest” should apply AT ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT from the local level to the federal level.

  2. What’s next ? wouldn’t surprise me a bit if Liz Johnson and her socialist friends on the county board vote to raise their own pay as well !

Illinois Democrats grift and reward their friends while our property taxes go up and criminals and illegals get sanctuary.

Rules and laws just don’t apply to Democrats in Illinois. Mclean county politics is looking a lot like Chicago lately.
