This is why Bloomington MUST opt people out of Aggregation

By: Diane Benjamin

Both Bloomington and Normal played granny state and opted people into their electric aggregation program.

Now we know the rate this year is higher than Ameren, people can opt out by contacting Ameren.

Citizens are forced to fix government blunders or pay more money. Most will never get that message.

The below is why few bother to vote and most people will never hear about opting out. They are clueless about what happens around them.

Remember when Bloomington voted to increase water rates 100% over 3 years? Remember when rates did go up on May 1st two years ago and one year ago?

Maybe this is just a new resident that wasn’t here for the first two increases. Maybe he was and slept through those. From NextDoor:

How did anyone miss the “generational” planned spending the Council got suckered into? Declining infrastructure is a choice made by progressives that have dominated local government for decades. The bill eventually comes due so they throw it all on taxpayers and create fancy names hoping you accept their fault for decades of neglect. They preferred entertaining you instead of silly things like taking care of roads, water, and sewers.

If the writer didn’t know about the 100% increase he didn’t hear about opting out either. Maybe people on NextDoor told him, I haven’t bothered looking. I guarantee there are people all over Bloomington-Normal who don’t know.

If citizens mattered, both local governments would undo their mistake.

One more thing:

Picture Ireland Grove Rd east of Towanda Barnes. There is a bridge that for weeks had a large hole in the approach from the east. Since it was on the far right side it was easy to drive around. Eventually Bloomington added some cones to make sure people saw it. Today portable stop lights are on both sides of the bridge because a section of new concrete was added.

Traffic is MUCH lighter now with school out at Benjamin and Cornerstone. Cones would have been fine because drivers know how to go around them when nobody is coming from the opposite direction. Signs were also added warning of STOP LIGHT ahead.

I wonder how much those stop lights cost? Paid staff must think people are stupid. If accidents occurred at that bridge they are. Anyone see any?

  1. Well, that would make sense – because if the government is involved, we should expect it to cost US more! LOL!

Thank you for letting us know that the Ameren rate is lower than the government aggregate rate!
We appreciate you and all the information you provide!!! You are a blessing!!
