This is video from my dashcam on Locust in Bloomington at the trail crossing. A car stopped in front of me and waves the runners on. The other lane of traffic had no idea of what was going on. No one was hurt but the video sure is scary.
The way the city and town set these crossings up is made for accidents.

I have seen similar incidents. I
choose to never stop at them.
No matter, those signs are a safety hazard!!
Think of all the pedestrian overpasses we could build on the constitution trail instead of that one stupid Koos underpass for $40 million.
I had a similar incident on Mulberry in Normal a while back. I saw a car zooming and weaving behind me as I was stopped so I honked several time to get the car’s attention. I got nasty looks from the pedestrians – I think they thought I was trying to rush them rather than trying to save them.
