They did it because they can

BNWRD is just one of many local taxing districts that nobody watches. This is the result:

Taxed enough yet?

  1. You are exactly correct Mrs. B. It’s because they can and do. But this increase is pennies compared to the screwing that tax payers and rate payers are going to receive once the Data Center build out is slipped past taxpayers. I read your recent blog and listen to Bloomington Mayor Brady jibber jabber on WJBC regarding Data Center agreements and it seems clear to me that taxpayers and rate payers will never know the scope of these financial obligations until to late to take action. Brady never said anything note worthy about self contained water needs although he was asked by Scott Miller several times. No comment on Data Centers generating their own power and mandating a % back to rate payers and certainly not any mention of Data Center property tax rebates back to tax payers. All should by a deal breaker if not included in any final Data Center agreement. The City of Bloomington and McLean County administration, elected officials and staff continually demonstrate they lack critical thinking skills and common sense to put such an agreement together that actually benefit tax payers and rate payers. We saw that with the 1% grocery tax that could not be eliminated even if the world stopped turning.

And, as you have indicated previously, the Taxing Bodies (nearly 200 in McLean County) are starting to talk about lowering tax rates, all while McLean County Assessor Steven Scudder and his ilk continue to raise the EAV non stop.. And, people like Scudder can’t be voted out as they never have an opponent..

      1. And they will continue with higher utility and rent payments. My renters won’t even suspect . They only react to what is in front of them.
