Like paying other people’s bills?

By: Diane Benjamin

The entire County is going to be taxed to fund the airport. This was passed in Springfield without a vote from the County residents and by representatives that don’t represent them (Chung and Koehler). Remember: Taxation Without Representation? Details here: https://www.wandtv.com/news/national/cira-authority-expansion-means-new-tax-for-rural-mclean-county-property-owners/article_e7aeccb8-3339-11ee-966e-fb07c1b7d8e3.html

The County is also forced to pay for the Bloomington Election Commission which has NO accountability to anyone. The latest check to them is on Bloomington Bills that will be approved tonight:

The total cost for Bloomington having their own election authority and paid for by the County, is much higher.

PDF page 9: https://www.bloomingtonil.gov/home/showdocument?id=30155&t=638454064426575919

That page claims they are funded by the County, State, and Feds. Actually the State and Feds pay a TINY portion. The County taxpayers are stuck with bills for the Bloomington folly and unaccountability.

Go to PDF page 11. In 2023 County taxpayers paid $513,560.00. The Feds paid -0-, ditto with the State.

County taxpayers are fleeced for what Bloomington and CIRA want. It is way past time to eliminate the Bloomington Election Commission and run all elections through the County Clerk who can be fired if she screws up. Nobody at the Bloomington Election Commission has any accountability. The CIRA Board isn’t elected either.

The League of Women Voters is wrong about almost everything and they were wrong years ago when they opposed the ballot initiative to end BEC. They will also be wrong when they support Rank Choice Voting, wait for it.

I bet the City Council could abolish it themselves, progressives never give up power however.

  1. WHEN OH WHEN WILL McLean Co./Bloomington-Normal residents “come to their senses”?? Besides loosing their b _ _ ls, have their senses also flown “to the four winds”?!?

  2. I don’t consider myself a radical but until we react like our ancestors did by dumping the tea into the water this taxation without representation will never end. These tax actions don’t affect the wealthy at all the middle class and those living on fixed incomes feel it the worst. Those on welfare not at all most don’t pay taxes.
Until people unite and vote , get these tax and spend liberal demoncrats out of office taxation without representation will continue in Illinois.
This or an outright revolt, civil war is in our future! orrrrr get the hell out of Illinois!

  3. Haven’t you heard??? CIRA’s Carl Olson has verbalized twice to the public on WJBC that “money is being returned to taxpayers”!! If anyone actually believes that they also believe Unit 5’s proclamation that if/when taxpayers pay more property taxes now their tax bill will be reduced in the future.

Confirmation that when the mouths of taxing body bureaucrats move it is a misrepresentation of the facts. Never believe anything they write, say or do…….including MSM?SM.

  4. As a part time violin tutor , Chung has the background and experience to better understand these issues and represent the people of the 91st district , than say, some random libtard backed by union PAC money… oh wait..

  5. Sure the silly public private 😘partnerships leaders in B-N and Chamber “one strategy” and memberships fuel most of these projects and-easy $ grabs

Hope Im wrong but pathetic to watch it all and them praising themselves and pocketbooks on what great Innovative Project Mgrs they all are

    Puke
