If the purpose of the 1% Sales Tax was to give property tax relief, the people pushing for it would have put that fact front and center!  Property tax relief is now being pulled out as a last resort.  They have seen the opposition.  Now desperate for a big  never-ending payday, they start talking tax relief.

If the only change is WHERE the money comes from – why do they want a Sales Tax increase?

You probably heard 37% of the Sales Tax would be paid be people outside the County.  Where did they get that number?  They estimate 22% is from people who live outside the County, another 15% is from ISU and Wesleyan students.  No word on where those numbers came from.

Passing the Sales Tax increase does NOT guarantee there will be any property tax relief.

The school board is relying on voter ignorance to mask the truth. They are certainly getting desperate. It’s all the more reason to vote NO March 18!
