Court again tomorrow

By:  Diane Benjamin

I have a Status Hearing tomorrow on my court case against the City of Bloomington.  This story recaps why I filed:  http://blnnews.com/2015/11/02/court-update/

The Freedom of Information Act is very clear.  The City of Bloomington wrongfully believes they are exempt, tomorrow I will find out if they plan to call witnesses.  I already know what their witnesses will claim because they laid out their claims to secrecy when my FOIA request was denied and again when I filed with Lisa Madigan’s Public Access office.

If Lisa Madigan had enough staff to handle complaints from citizens,

this case would not be in court!

Madigan’s office frequently takes YEARS to rule, so obviously cleaning up corruption in Illinois is a low priority.

Anyway, if the City wants to call witnesses, I can think of one person I’d like to see testify under oath!  It’s not Tari Renner!

It will cost more money to call witnesses, unless the person I’m thinking of is on the City’s list.  I doubt he is.   Under oath he will be forced to explain why the City has failed to hold John Butler accountable for taxpayer money collected by BMI Concessions.  Merry Christmas Bloomington!

  1. Just an fyi- Madigan’s office may be understaffed, but even if they were not…Madigan is tight with Durbin- Renner is tight with Durbin. Something filed against Renner/Bloomington is about the last thing they will work on. I have a close friend with connections inside the AG’s office, and even he said that there is no way he could help us.Lane

    1. I’m just passing along what I was told. I even discussed this with one of their lawyers. Of course he denied it. Meanwhile, the OMA Judy Stearns filed in 2013 is still outstanding.

  2. There ARE private servers who do it for roughly half that. IF you know a good lawyer find out WHO they use, as the deputies knock on the door and that’s about it-they aren’t real “motivated” to push the issue.
