April 28, 2012

That date in 2012 is when I published the first story on BlnNews.  I ONLY started writing because of the despicable reporting I saw in the local media.  Organizations they liked had inflated numbers of event attendees, if they didn’t approve – the numbers reported could be less than half of actual.

Worse, the content covered was extremely bias and often didn’t come close to reflecting the real story.

I didn’t major in journalism, thank God, or I wouldn’t be able to report.   I majored in accounting which comes in really handy for deciphering bull.

One thing I’ve learned in 7 years, nothing is going to get fixed nationally until local is fixed.  Not paying attention to local politics means tax increases and personal projects at your expense.  Nothing wonky would get passed if more people paid attention.    Bloomington is going to be very entertaining for the next two years.  Hopefully the citizens will see the malarkey presented and decide to oust people like Normal did.  They won’t get information from the media, I need all of you to share stories you think people need to know.  Unless more people vote, people will be moving out – that will make your taxes higher.  Budgets cuts are impossible!.

Keep the tips coming!  I’ve got an interesting story for tomorrow a reader sent.  I think I will have access to a law firm to file FOIA lawsuits, still working on details.  The Attorney General isn’t capable of even a timely response let alone penalties.

  1. If it weren’t for you Diane we would be totally in the dark. I met you when you started the Tea Party here and I had no clue how bad things were locally till you exposed it. We have to keep passing on your findings (facts) to the voters. At some point they have to pay attention.

  2. WAY better news then the Pantagraph, but that wouldn’t really take much!

    KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

  3. I’m in Diane…may God bless you if u can keep it up 7 more years – much of your righteous reporting makes my blood boil – how do you remain so calm? $45 coming your way….GBY

  4. Congrats on your first 7 years! Here’s to many more great years of reporting. Although I don’t live in McLean County, misdeeds by politicians can and does happen everywhere. Stay alert and informed and above all VOTE in every election.

  5. Congrats on over 7 years Diane. The Truth has set me free…thanks for providing it.

  6. Congrats Diane. I met you at one of my overpass events against illegal immigration. So glad I met you. Had no idea how important it is to start at local government to make changes. I’ll be a loyal reader and contributor after I leave. What you do is important to me where ever I move to. I have family here. Here’s to many more years!

  7. I use to give $5 a month – but it is now appropriate to start giving $7!

When it comes to numbers blnnews is THE BEST, PERIOD.

  8. God Bless you for daring to report the truth. You’ve had put up with King Tari and his court jesters and still have the “balls” to continue. If it wasnt for you ,the patriots of Blono would still be in the dark about the crap that goes on . Even though your news scares the heck out of me, its the first news I read in the morning.
