Teaming up with Jenn?

By:  Diane Benjamin

At last Monday’s Council meeting Citizens to Ensure Fair Transit had representatives speak during Public Comment.  They have legitimate complaints about route changes, ADA compliance, and fare increases.  They are being heard, but may not in the future if the Jenn tactics continue.

As reported yesterday, Scott Black did not approve of members of this group going to Justin Boyd’s downtown office to demand he withdraw his name for the Connect Transit Board.  They posted a pic on Facebook:

boyd citizens

Jenn almost applauded them for civil disobedience and direct action.  I wonder if the group was put up to going by Jenn?

If Citizens to Ensure Fair Transit take a path the local radical left lays out for them and thinks public opinion is going to stay on their side – They Are Wrong.

The majority of citizens know Connect Transit is not providing services to the people who need it most.  They also know Connect is acting irresponsibly with taxpayer dollars.  Citizens understand your needs and support you.

What they don’t support is Jenn’s coded message to you during public comment:

snap

Jenn is snapping her fingers in support of a speaker.  I hear some in the crowd were doing the same thing.  If Jenn wants to be an activist she is on the wrong side of the desk.

If Citizens to Ensure Fair Transit are teaming up with Jenn, they lose.  They should be looking for a lawyer, the majority of stops aren’t ADA compliant.  Flags were stuck in the ground where a consultant said they should be.  Common Sense plays no role.

See one example at 52:15.  Just hit play.  Tari must have changed the policy about not responding to speakers.

  1. Speaking of Jen, I see where a band named “CRACKER” is playing at the castle. As a WHITE AMERICAN I take offense to that. What do you have to say to the folks at the Castle Jen????
I sure hope for THEIR sake that the folks for C.E.F.T. don’t team up with our local “hell raiser” as IF they do hey will loose ALL RESPECT at the end of the day, just as Jen will..

  2. The silver lining is that Tari is losing social capital with voters, businesses, and even his establishment supporters, as a result of supporting and elevating Jenn. Of course, readers and commenters of this blog saw it coming from a mile away. She’s a bridge too far for the vast majority of productive well-meaning citizens, irrespective of political party. People are downright turned off by her antics and actions. Now Tari is stuck protecting Jenn, while apologizing to Justin and the other Downtown business owners. He needs this demographic if his “vision” for the Downtown is to get off the ground. Regarding ADA compliance, I’m shocked that no lawsuit has been taken up in BN. Perhaps, there’s a fear that the outcome or even the filing of the suit itself would effectively force Connect Transit to shut down.

  3. What a racket .. 30percent administration increase , and tax increases and lots of grants and subsidies .. oh my .. and good comments about some of the damages to roads . but this is a deal that needs input and real needs met .

  4. You’re correct, Diane. The finger snapping is that groups way of “clapping” without actually being too loud or disruptive. They do it frequently at Town council meetings. Jenn is a pure activist there. Too bad there’s no one up there to call her out on it.

    1. I guess the only way to call her out on it would be to make a public comment concerning disregard for laws and rules by the council (meaning Jenn).
      1) Point out the flag situation and call her out by name
      2) Point out no response to public comment policy

  5. If I give Jenn a well-deserved silent “finger” during her antics I wonder how that would go over?

  6. She was responding and should be called out. By the way, didn’t they do that snapping crap on the Dick Van Dyke Show or was it Gilligan’s Island? P.S. we need that text.

    1. Maybe. I remember it on the comedy Doby Gillis. You may be thinking of Bob Denver’s character (who played Gilligan on Gilligan’s Island) Maynard G. Krebs, who was a beatnik and a friend of Doby’s on that show. Great “inside” jokes by the way that would be considered not PC today.
