This video should go viral, no I’m not going to tell you what EDC Director Hoban said. Hoban had just run through all the potential incentives offered to new businesses.
The EDC might want to speed this up if they are going to push it, Rivian is in their final year of tax abatements. The Normal Town Council can’t wait for a real meeting, they have a special meeting tomorrow night only to abate Rivian Taxes: https://www.normalil.gov/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/4308
The Town estimates that the abated property tax for the applicable Rivian parcels will equal $202,000.
Unit 5’s tax rate is about 3.9 times higher the the Normal + the library. That means next year Unit 5 will collect at least $787,800 more than this year. Have they mentioned that?

I’m not surprised. They are very selective with what they say and don’t say. KW claimed how many times, “we don’t teach CSE.” A truthful lie at best. Currently, no. BUT THEY ARE PLANNING ON IT AND TRAINING FOR IT. Don’t let that voice of hers fool you. Also, why couldn’t they plug that deficit with part of the $24 MILLION they received? Imho Unit 5 does not deserve anymore taxpayer money than they already receive. Cut basketball and football.

Oh just because they’re such popular sports, I figured it would get everyone’s attention. “Cut anything you want but leave our 2 most sacred sports alone.” Just an attention getter.
The Rivian bet is not looking so hot lately. Speaking of hot, how many battery fires at one’s plant is reasonable? Asking for a taxpayer.

There’s just no end to what these people want to tax. Now they want a vacancy tax.
I LIVE ON REGENCY DRIVE THE DAY CARE SCHOOL THAT WAS ON REGENCY WAS EMPTY FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS WHAT DID THEY DO THEY HAD IT TORN DOWN NO TAXES ON THAT BUILDING, THE LARGE BRICK BUILDING I BELIEVE USED TO BE A CHURCH NEXT TO IT WAS VACANT AND FOR SALE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS I BELIEVE THE TAXES WERE $18,000 A YEAR THE OWNER COULD NOT SELL IT SO GUESS WHAT IT WAS DEMOLISHED ALSO. SO HOBAN RAISE TAXES ON EMPTY BUILDINGS YOU DON’T THINK THAT THE OWNERS WON’T DEMOLISH THEM AND YOUR TAXES WILL GO AWAY PLUS WHO WOULD WANT TO MOVE INTO AN EMPTY BUILDING WHERE THE TAXES HAVE BEEN RAISED FOR NO REASON. PEOPLE LIKE YOU ARE CLUELESS.
