Mboka Mwilambwe wasn’t there – he’s out of the country.
John Danenberger was AWOL.
So was Cody Hendricks.
Tim Gleason was MIA, of course he has TWO assistants, so Billy Tyus did his job.
The only Public comment was Scott Stimeling who once again raged about fireworks. He seems to think whatever is spent on them should be put in infrastructure instead. A John Adams quote on July 4th just for Scott:
“I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival…It ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.”
Evidently there is a new Route 66 sign somewhere by Miller Park. It was likely funded with the same State grant Normal used to build theirs.
Starting with the 7/24 meeting the Council will be meeting at the BCPA while the new dais is constructed. All 3 August meetings will be there too as well as other boards and commissions who meet in the same room. Watch the website for details.
As predicted no one spoke during the Public Hearing on spending CDBG funds, just Community Development Director Melissa Hon. Just hit play to hear her presentation. She recaps what the money received from the Feds was spent on last year.
Is the guy wanting to do away with fire works a communist? If not I’m sure his continued drive to stop fire works makes them happy.
On July 4, 1777, fireworks illuminated the sky over Philadelphia and Boston. The rest is history.
As usual, the have a raging leftist demand something. The seed has been deliberately planted. The raging leftists will continue their angry demands. If fireworks are permanently canceled someday, who would be surprised. They’ve given in to every other leftist demand. They’re sexualizing children in schools, libraries, and in public. The cancelation of fireworks is mild by comparison, but so very predictable.
In regards to the public speaker, there is no reason to call him a “raging leftist.” He could just as easily be on the right as his demand to reduce non-essential spending in favor or more infrastructure spending is a common concern with such folks. I’m on the left, and I love launching fireworks on the 4th. And I know people on the right who get really annoyed at people launching their own fireworks on the 4th.
He wants his road and sidewalk fixed. He’s been saying the same line for years. Maybe some decade he will get what he wants.
Rut Row – Better look out. WATCH YOUR WALLETS. Peoria just announced its river front plans. Watch for the Downtown street scape project to rear its expensive head. Then watch as anti-gun Ward, scolds anyone who is against it. Watch as Mayor(wants to be Sec of Education is Pritzker Presidency) says we shouldn’t comment on it. The City will announce this WANT – and fund it. 30 million plus….. Then the city will announce the NEED for the city water line upgrades. 250 million plus……
The underground infrastructure in downtown needs to be fixed before any decorative elements are added. The Street Scape consulting hasn’t done community outreach, as far as I know. That outreach is supposed to be one of their deliverables.
Expect a predetermined result
