If the citizens of Normal want to believe their government works for them, go for it.
The below is from the World Economic Forum website. They are pushing a Smart City plan for cities worldwide. They have “experts” who plan for cities and then members fall in line with the plan.
FYI: The WEF isn’t bound by local laws, constitutions, or the will of the populations they expect to comply with their plans.
Anyone think Smart City plans in London and Moscow should be instituted in Normal? Look at the cities listed below and ask yourself what Normal has in common with any of them.

Read it while remembering everything in it originated in an organization that doesn’t believe in freedom. It is heavily data driven, so is China. Normal has software that tracks every mention on social media of the Town. Social media companies and government have colluded to silence opposition. Data collection requires control of data.
In 2019 Normal hired Vasudha Gadhiraju as Director of Innovation and Technology. She was formerly the Executive Director of the McLean County Regional Planning Commission. Before that she was the Environmental Planner/Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Decatur. She was also a GIS Planner.
Per OpenTheBooks.com in 2018 she was paid $113,304 as the Executive Director. In 2022 the Town of Normal paid her a base salary of $140,862. She wasn’t hired for her expertise in technology, she was hired for her planning background.

Back to 10 minute meetings in Normal. The council is oblivious to where Normal wants to take you. Watch for drones. Their use is in the document.
Do citizens in Normal care their tax dollars are being used for meaningless certifications? The “professional staff” must not be capable of well-managed local government. They need national and international organizations telling them what to do.
“15 minute cities” are a real thing. It’s all about controlled access and controlled accessibility. The authorities sell it as, “convenience” with everything available within 15 minutes of travel from your home. But what if your cousin, friend, job, destination lives or exists outside of your “zone”? You must travel an extra long distance around the city and, if allowed, enter another “zone” to reach your final destination. Usually for a short period of time with “permission” “your papers” and only after being processed by government authorities and agencies.
Alternative, freedom. Walking, riding, running, driving, flying unhindered, (unencumbered by processes of bureaucracy or molested by government). Traveling when, where, why you want for as long as you want, then returning home, if you want. Without “papers”.

The concept of “smart”, to Schwab, John Kerry, and the other one world government elitists should spur everyone with common sense to investigate what these folks really understand it means to be “smart”.
An elitist thinks he’s the smartest one in the room. A sure sign of blind ignorance. leave the room as they say – “this is what we should do.”
I could see the “15 minute city” thing working in a large metropolitan area (Chicago, LA, Dallas, Miami, London, Sydney, Tokyo, etc.) as a convenience type-thing. But, it’s not gonna work in places like Bloomington, Normal, Champaign, Peoria, and similar sized cities. It just won’t, end of story.
China has people working and living in the same building. They had to add nets to stop the suicides by jumpers:
True, but that’s not what I meant. I mean walking to get groceries, to work, a bar, kids to school, etc….if that’s your thing. Not my thing, but I don’t speak for the urban dwellers.
And this certainly shouldn’t be “mandated” anywhere.
@BNindy – Don’t fall for the convenience of this thing. Not about convenience. It will be mandated everywhere. People who don’t want to comply, regardless of where you live, will be taxed or otherwise burdened into submission. Can’t have everyone escaping out of the big cities.
Of course Schwab and Kerry will be flying overhead in their private jets while we peasants are riding our bicycles in the snow.
We can all pick up one of those fat tire bikes for the snow at the king’s bike shop. 🙂

Watched the policy video above and for somebody paying attention instead of just absorbing the kool-aid content, it took less than 30 seconds for the first big red flag. They promote a “more ethical, more responsible smart city” then “To begin with, what to we mean by more responsible?” No mention of ethical, because under historical definitions, they aren’t, and under their new interpretation, the term is nothing more than a buzzword, kind of like ‘racist’.
