A couple of things to know:

By: Diane Benjamin

The National League of Cities created a searchable database showing where the Infrastructure Bill money is being spent. Look at Illinois – lots of money went to Public Transportation and electric buses. I wonder how many were bought from the bankrupt Proterra? Keep in mind all this money was printed and increased the debt nobody seems to care about. (Now over $33 Trillion)

Open The Books is a website created for you. It was created for transparency in how your tax dollars are spent. I think every person in the country who is paid with tax dollars, salary or pension, can be found. Founder Adam Andrzejewski did a fantastic job accumulating data. In addition to salaries and pensions, checkbooks are included.

If you have never used it you are missing out on a treasure trove of information. The first thing you need to do is create an account. You can do a limited number of searches without one but an account is FREE and makes searching easier.

openthebooks.com

There is a video on the main page showing how to use it. I will give you the short version:

From the Main Menu – click this Menu button:

The next screen lists every state. Click Illinois and you will instantly have access to data by type of government – schools, cities, counties etc.

This was created so taxpayers know how their money is being spent. Of course you have the right to know that information. Have fun exploring.
