Keep in mind voters were scared into giving Unit 5 the right to increase tax rates. The below is using the rate Unit 5 charged property owners in 2022. They now have the right to charge you much more regardless of how much the assessed value of your property increased.
The below is from yet another FOIA request I filed with the County – this one was received the same day I filed it.

Keep in mind the value of most properties increased substantially. Think they really needed your permission to increase property tax rates? Just Rivian is providing almost $4.5 million without raising rates.
Also keep in mind the County Administrator Cassy Taylor wants to keep the County rate the same as last year meaning a huge pile of new money to spend. Keep your eyes on all units of government. The fleece is on!

Hopefully, Mayor Koos has received double-digit increases in assessments on his house and on his business property – like the rest of us suckers!
