Bloomington’s Greed

By: Diane Benjamin

The City of Bloomington wants $1.1 million more from you, the library wants $309.4 thousand more all while your government is sitting on RECORD high reserves.

Of course they use the same graphic as every other year to show they aren’t why property taxes chase people out of Illinois:

It appears every unit of government thinks the time is perfect to steal more or your money and blame inflation while that same inflation brought them immense prosperity because you had to pay more for everything – including taxes to them.

Know what these pics are?

The bottom two are renderings from the Monday consultant’s presentation. The retention pond is the view from the newly reconstructed library once the Citizen’s Convenience Center is moved. The top two pictures are from very nearby – people forced to live in tents. The bottom pic is possible amenities, maybe tent city can move there!

Below are the two votes to raise your taxes. The one on the left is raising City taxes, the right is raising library taxes:

These people have until December 11th to change their minds. You need to make that happen. The City and the library do not need more of your money when they are sitting on massive reserves and you have been pled dry.

As the pic above says – Jesus Cares. The YES votes by the alderman show they don’t.

  1. Citizens don’t vote in any significant numbers so government can do what it wants. No accountability and no consequences. It’s so easy to move to a nice community outside Illinois with significantly lower taxes. The money I will save on those reduces taxes will pay a mortgage, buy a new car, pay for some amazing travel, start a business, allow more charitable contributions, or make more money leaving it in the bank. My choices not that of Illinois government. Goodbye Illinois

  2. I thought the same thing. Where, in the graphic, does it show the Taxpayers portion of their own money?
Also, I thought Donna was supposed to vote No on Raising taxes. I guess I thought wrong.

  3. Homeless will love new library. Not only a place to sleep but a pool to bathe in or do other disgusting things in! And your tax dollars will pay for it and maintain it as well.
