Moving In or Moving out?

This is the never used Fire Station #5 on Six Points Road:

Those aren’t City trucks but the reader couldn’t read what they say. I’m sure one of you will recognize them.

Last January the garage looked pretty packed with extra vehicles: https://blnnews.com/2023/01/18/no-response-to-foia-bloomington/

Maybe the City is now storing surplus in the kitchen and sleeping quarters.

Keep in mind this fire station was never staffed because the City couldn’t afford to staff it. If they build another fire station on the east side it will need to be staffed. The library stated they needed a property tax increase to staff all their new programs in their expanded building.

The true cost is never what they say it is.

One more note: Yesterday a commentor said the water rate increase wasn’t Gleason’s fault. A previous council stopped a water rate study. Of course Gleason couldn’t have proposed raising rates without one. Step one is always showing you pay less than surrounding cities and therefore must pay more.

Next the other cities compare their rates to Bloomington’s and demand their citizens pay more. Ditto City Manager salaries – it’s all a game taxpayers always lose.

  1. Regarding the Six Points Road Station
The mechanicals of the building are over designed and have never worked as designed or desired. They next to impossible to service in any reasonable manner. Basically a P poor design and execution of money and resources
The sleeping quarters are on a different level than the apparatus floor necessitating a small set of stairs and an ADA compliant chair
The walls leak only most of the time—-even though the builder did supply a cache of sealant needing to be applied every so many years
    A great storage building
By th the by- There were two bicycle hand rails when the place was built. They have been missing for a number of years. I think they are relocated in Bloomington. But I can’t say for sure. Perhaps some of the illustrious leaders can fathom this as well

  2. They were storing Coliseum crap there: basketball floor, baskets, football stuff, whatever was in the way.

    1. Sounds like another flawed design with big white – – there should be ample storage for the items – just sayin’.
