I don’t comment on NextDoor but reading the comments is interesting.
Somebody posted this story: https://www.wglt.org/local-news/2024-01-16/bloomington-mayor-says-migrant-arrivals-are-an-opportunity
The comments below prove the immigration extremists showed up at the County Board meeting to protest Chuck Erickson’s ordinance. The opposite side stayed home and vented on their keyboard. Which side affects votes by elected officials? Obviously, not most of these guys.

Yes. We all are immigrant immigrants or from families of such, (minus the indigenous which may have some heritage to those mixed in also). However, Study the history of the time period for immigration.
Some periods America opened the doors wide, others it was difficult. Still, there was always a legal process and system. New York, Houston, Boston, Baltimore, Philadelphia were all ports of immigration into the US. But even then there were strict health, safety, employability (skillsets) requirements before entry was allowed.
Many immigrants waited 30 or more days in dank conditions for medical clearance of small pox, measles, and other infections before being allowed into the US.
No monetary gifts were given or aid offered. English was required to be spoken within a period of time or failure to thrive would occur in most cases, unless a large proportion of the same culture congregated in a community.
The point is that the US government did not promise anything beyond hard work and opportunity for a merit based life free of discrimination as in European, west Asian, free of those societies based on the caste or class system. With Hard work, luck, determination and some ingenuity a man could succeed without worry of his station of birth for the first time on earth. A purely merit based land based on capitalism instead of birthright.
Good summary Chad.
THE ONLY ANSWER is to GET INVOLVED IN THIS ELECTION NOW!! Sign up to be an Election Judge OR HELP OUT YOUR CANDIDATE!!! Chuck Erickson would be a good choice!!
As an aside – I don’t comment on Nextdoor anymore Diane. I was banned from the site for copying and pasting portions of Unit 5’s Equity documents and asking for opinions. Someone didn’t like that and basically called me racist (discrminatory). Nextdoor is a leftist organization that condones censorship of positions it doesn’t agree with.
I would not be surprised to see certain people in this discussion banned shortly.
FROMHERE, I agree. I don’t comment on Nextdoor anymore either. Their moderators were all advocating for the Unit 5 tax increase and did not like opposing viewpoints . I too was surprised all these comments were allowed regarding illegal aliens. Unit 5 has 1000 students who cannot speak English. So truth be told, they’ve been coming here before now.
NextDoor – bunch if crap
As the ship continues to sink the democrats shout, “Give us more water!”
