Quote:
In a September letter to the mayor and council obtained by WGLT under the Freedom of Information Act, the Local 2442 of the International Association of Firefighters union said 84% of membership voted no-confidence.
The Town of Normal is now covering fire calls in Hudson, Lexington, and Towanda without increasing staff. Is that part of the problem?
Maybe the problem goes back to 2007 when the Town hired a fire chief with NO fire fighting experience! He had 20 years experience in EMS, it is right on Normal’s website: https://www.normalil.gov/1604/Mick-Humer–Normal-Fire-Department-Chief
The real question is why WGLT did this story now. The letter referenced is from last September.
Since conservatives have zero representation on the Council you won’t find out. WGLT doesn’t usually do stories the Town doesn’t want out. Citizens should be looking for answers!

Looks like the socialized budget priorities of Koos and the board of normalities has been followed by the fire Chief so well that the Department has finally decided to take a stand for their own safety.
It’s only a matter of time before the first off duty firefighter is either brought under investigation, arrested or outright fired for some circumstantial, nontransparent, and closed-door reason.
Just watch the show as Reece bakes her cake and Koos readies his minions to serve it. But that’s, just my opinion. Speculating about how things run in Village affairs is a fickle thing.
I’m glad the Firefighters in Normal are trying to stand up for themselves. Based on past history with tyrant koos and tyrant reece, it will take a miracle for the firefighters to prevail in this situation. I sure hope that they do. A day does not go by that I don’t see or hear them responding to a call.
Normal has a financial arrangement (revenue source) from Hudson, Lexington, an Towanda.
BFD covers Normal through an intergovernmental agreement (free of charge) when NFD is out of town.
