Memorial Day was set aside to remember those who died for our country. They took an oath to the Constitution which of course includes the Bill of Rights. The 1st Amendment includes Freedom of the Press.

People recognize fake news when they hear or see it. It’s not difficult to notice the questions that weren’t asked and the leftist slant put on every story. News agencies have been cutting staff for years because people aren’t willing to pay for their nonsense. They are free to have a staff full of leftist reporters, but we don’t have to fund them—until now.

The state of Illinois can’t let their favorite campaign contributors go out of business! How would the government get their talking points out to people who don’t want to hear propaganda?

What are the elitists supposed to do with fewer and fewer “journalists” in the old media spewing their malarkey?

Freedom of the press not only means being “free to report,” it also means being free to disappear if you don’t have people willing to pay for what you do. Of course, capitalism is hated by the left in favor of the government picking winners and losers.

Inflation has caused you to cut your budget; the government does the opposite. If this is passed, you can bet Bloomington and Normal will pass their own grocery tax. Their budgets are too special to be cut. Isn’t it nice of Pritzker to cut taxes cities got and not the state?

Congratulations. Fascism lives in Illinois. Many soldiers died defeating it in Europe, but tragically, history is no longer taught. At least a couple of generations will think this is fine.
