The property Normal is going to build a new Fire Station on is 1.69 acres. Normal paid $450,000 for it even after area residents petitioned the Town to just move it across the street: https://blnnews.com/2020/06/04/normal-isnt-listening/
It could have been located by the Town owned dog park, of course the opinions of citizens in Normal are immaterial and ignored.

Imagine what the underpass will cost!

Hey Kev, it is perfectly legal under the Open Meetings Act to discuss anything the Council wants to. Only Agenda items can be voted on however.
I bet the real reason McCarthy shut down Lorenz is because policy is always affirmed behind closed doors. He didn’t want a public conversation, especially one started by a person running for mayor.
Nice try Kathy Lorenz. You’re still not a republican, no matter how hard you try to convince people otherwise.
Here’s what’s up with this. Kevin McCarthy wants to be mayor. Yet, he doesn’t have the guts to run against his buddy Chris Koos or finance a campaign of his own. Enter Kathleen to run against the establishment even though she herself is the establishment.
She’s at odds for going against the Koos machine by running for mayor and there’s hell to pay for it. If Chris Koos wins his umpteenth term, he’ll resign and Kevin will be mayor. That’s how things work in Normal, if not the entire county of McLean.
He’s said for a decade he wants to quit. His ego is too big
Perhaps Normal can take a few playbook ideas from Bloomington .
The over designed and under built station in SW Bloomington could be a starting point. Maybe get the water supply from a short water tower located elsewhere can lend impetus to build monuments to those no longer involved or on the hook for upkeep.
I am all for progress Why not use common sense in these matters ? Possibly not enough glory to be had?
