Critical Thinking Skills Required for Elected Office

By: Diane Benjamin

Do you ever read a news story and think to yourself: This doesn’t feel right. If yes, you have critical thinking skills that make you not fall for whatever information is pushed.

Both Krystle Able and Corey Beirne posted an AXIOS story on Facebook which claims the end of cash bail in Illinois did not spike crime. Able added this comment before posting the story:

Beirne post:

Does it feel like crime hasn’t increased since the Safe-T Act went into effect? Ask Alderman Mollie Ward who had a bullet go through her front door if it feels like crime hasn’t increased.

First, you have to know who AXIOS is. Their wikipedia site has a lot of clues: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axios_(website)

Read their SHORT crime story here: https://shorturl.at/q8fkB

Chicago States Attorney Kim Foxx was on the panel the story is about. It has very limited details because AXIOS is known for short stories. Anyone think Foxx is going to say there isn’t an increase in crime in Chicago? Most murders there are never solved.

Real crime stats aren’t going to come from sources trying to affect an election. Try this link instead:

This story has: Top 30 Shocking Data On Illinois Crime Rates & Statistics

It is all footnoted – the sources can be checked.

Excerpt – more details are in the story:

I STONGLY urge you to read that story. Illinois is less safe for citizens because of the Safe-T Act. Of course close to an election the truth isn’t suppose to be told. Elected officials who claim crime didn’t spike when arrests are just a revolving door should resign. (Of course they won’t)

The top 10 Illinois safest cities are listed. Bloomington-Normal is not on the list.

Number 7 on the list: A worrying 30% increase in juvenile involvement in violent crimes was observed.

Illinois’ future isn’t bright.

  1. I agree about the lack of common sense Diane. It looks like a lack of common sense to us because we can easily see how they don’t consider all aspects of a problem and then come to a radical unworkable solution that is always regretted later.
Leftists destroy trust between citizens, in communities, cities, states and the nation. They should be nowhere near the levers of power.

  2. There are damm lies, and statistics. Chicago and NY do not report crimes to the FBI data base, do you think statistics are accurate? Police also under class crimes to make statistics to look good. I have experience with this in Normal.

  3. Notice there’s a racial element to the Safe-T Act, the strongest proponents of this are people that think bail and incarceration unfairly target racial minorities…particularly blacks. Is this another tool of the Marxist play book to further enhance racial conflict? It seems black America is being pushed to more embrace their African roots and adopt a stronger anti-white culture…especially with the younger urban…kind of reverse assimilation. They appear to be rejecting Western values and civilization. No bail fits into this perfectly and it illustrates that there is an agenda, Critical Thinking aside, these people know exactly what they’re doing.
