Surprised our State Capital is censoring citizens?

By: Diane Benjamin

I’m not sure what the original source of this is, but it is verified in a story linked below by the State Journal Register:

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

The City of Springfield is openly banning speech they don’t want other citizens to hear. By not making Public Comment video available to every citizen they are violating the 1st Amendment. Obviously this Council does not represent citizens because they have no interest in exposing citizen grievances to a larger audience. Film it yourself folks and post it all over social media!

No surprise this is Illinois where the governor calls those who disagree with him carnival barkers. Abraham Lincoln must be so proud!

  1. Sometimes the desire to shut the mouths of people you don’t agree with is stronger than the desire to be free.

A Republic form of government gives liberty to the world – “if you can keep it”.
