Purple is residential burglary. Brown is theft, doesn’t include shoplifting. Green is motor vehicle theft. Orange is aggravated assault.
The white boxes with numbers indicate too many crimes to display. If you change the filter to murder/manslaughter it shows none. There was one arson west of downtown Bloomington. Change the filter to alcohol violations. All of those are in Normal. Next pick DUI. There is a shocking number of those – both cities. Try weapons violation, too many of those too. It would be interesting to know how many of those resulted in release because of the Safe-T Act.

Spending millions on Uptown didn’t help crime. Spending millions on downtown Bloomington won’t either. Of course, voters choose representatives who are going to do it anyway. Congrats.

I am so sick of all the theft that is allowed to go on!! The result of theft is that it raises the prices for the rest of us.

Because you must hold people accountable for their actions = Theft of any amount is a crime and there needs to be strict punishment!
The “soft on crime” approach needs to end!! ASAP
I look at the Lexis Nexis Community Crime Map everyday. It saddens me what BN has become. 30+ years of steady decline, which is only going to get worse. But that’s the point. Managed Decline.
BN’s demise was a carefully planned construct. In order for Central Illinois to turn completely blue, BN had to fall as the last bastion of conservative thought among downstate metro areas. Durbin worked hand-in-glove governors and assorted local liberal operatives to make it happen, including local union leadership. After far leftists took over local politics and the bureaucracy, it was easy pickings. Local RINOs also had a hand in this when they openly invited Chicago scum to come on down to work in the service industries. Momma’s came bringing their poorly-raised and uneducated family members with them who knew nothing but crime. Also thank ISU and IWU who partnered in the scam. Bloomington also openly encouraged the LGTBQ crowd to set up shop in town thinking it would make for a more diverse community. The current result was decades in the making and done entirely on purpose.

What Blowno needs is more gun owners, assault rifles even. We need to get tough on crime too, if petty theft meant loss of fingers and hands like the old days it would stop pretty quick.
Criminals need to be treated like criminals. Illinois now demands coddling them.
Well said, shoot on sight, go for the head! The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun! We need open carry like Texas.
