Three things you need to know

Regulating homeschooling in Illinois (HB 2827) appears to be dead for now, but that doesn’t mean it will stay that way. The left has a habit of using “shell bills” to pass legislation without holding public hearings.

A “shell bill” is created by stripping all language from a bill that has already passed the required three readings and replacing it with new content the sponsors want to force through. This process prevents the public from objecting, which is the goal.

If you want to avoid the higher electricity rates that both Bloomington and Normal signed up for, there’s a way out.

Constellation Energy, which both cities contracted with, isn’t a supplier—it’s an aggregator. They aren’t the only one and definitely not the cheapest.

On Saturday, I was at the Greenbriar Walmart. I’ve often seen people in the aisle between groceries and apparel asking customers if they use Ameren. This time, I decided to talk to the representative. He told me Walmart had approved his company being there and showed me he could sign people up for electricity at $0.08 per kWh.

If you don’t want a 40% increase in your electric bill, check it out. I suggest visiting on Saturdays, as I’m unsure how often a representative is present. There might be additional fees, so make sure to ask.

A 40% increase is significant. Exploring options could be worthwhile.

Long time readers will remember the only custody case I’ve ever written about. I’ve been asked since to cover others but I have refused because they are complicated and cases involving minors aren’t normally public.

The only reason I got involved in this case was because the Pantagraph had a reporter covering the case. Of course their coverage was one sided.

During the case a scumbag who called himself TurtleBoy pretended to also report. He wrote fiction, at least once even about my coverage.

Yesterday this clown was charged with 2 felonies for intimidation of witnesses: https://www.wcvb.com/article/turtleboy-witness-intimidation-charges-karen-read/64759707

STOUGHTON, Mass. —

Aidan Timothy Kearney, the controversial Massachusetts blogger known as “Turtleboy,” has been indicted on charges in connection with accusations he intimidated witnesses in the Karen Read murder trial.

According to court documents, Kearney was indicted on two felony charges of witness intimidation by a Norfolk County grand jury.

The article sounds like this isn’t the first time he has faced charges. Believe it or not, some local people believed his garbage. Michael Cadena won his custody case despite TurtleBoy. These charges vindicate him yet again. Congrats!

  1. 1. Shell bills are not limited to those on the left, as they are used by many politicians on both sides and in the middle (going back as far as 1979 when Illinois politicians passed a pay raise for themselves in 1 day). Similarly most politicians add “pork” to their bills so other things get passed that have nothing to do with main topic of the bill being voted on.

    2. You are keeping us in suspense, what is the name of this Wal-Mart approved company? BTW, not all of us shop at Wal-Mart (neither BloNo location), so it would be nice not have to make a special trip to maybe find “someone in the aisles” of Wal-Mart on a Saturday .
