Illinois is taxing people out of the State. Since the left never has enough money, the latest scheme is to tax services like haircuts that have always been exempt. The State thinks they can raise another $2.7 billion from you.
A report in 2021 claimed Illinois has 8,923 taxing bodies, at least double what most states have: https://www.civicfed.org/inventory
There is at least ONE more since then. On my property tax bill is a new line:

I was charged $4.76 while receiving ZERO benefits or information about them. In fact finding out anything about them has been close to impossible. I finally received one document through the County:

I don’t know any of these people or know how they became Trustees or resident members.

This group claims to be subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Open Meetings Act but has no posted information. I’m assuming it was established through the county, yet a search of the county website yielded nothing.
Nothing can done better. They have no recommendations. They need $4.76 from me anyway as well as money from the other 6,355 citizens they supposedly serve.
There’s no such thing as “minimal cost” to residents when, at the end of 2024, they admitted to doing nothing.
In 10 years, they’ll likely have multiple employees and a massive budget because they “found” something that had to be done. That’s how Illinois operates, and it’s why people continue to flee the state.
Progressives like to take your money and figure out how to spend it after.
I hope they don’t tax services and if they do, I hope IT consultancy isn’t on the list.

I always admire your attentiveness. Normal devised a STORM WATER TAX that includes property owned by schools and churches. Unit 5 and ISU pay $1.25 million @, Guess who ultimately pays? This alone doubled my taxes to Normal. NOW they are inventorying trees on private property, and will require a permit issued by a government arborist if you need to remove. I miss the time when Americans had freedom, my grandchildren will be tax slaves.
Well guess what, haircuts will now be done by friends and those who can do it themselves 🤷 They never learn how innovative we can be!
You grandchildren? We’ve all been tax slaves since 1913. It gets more obvious by the day especially in blue states like ILLannoy. And let’s not forget that the Prickster removed a toilet from one of his properties to pay less taxes.
