People pay for this?

By: Diane Benjamin

Before enrolling in college the first question that should be asked is: Can the accumulated debt be paid back with my chosen major?

Unless public schools are hiring, who is going to welcome recent grads with this degree: https://illinoiseagle.com/2025/05/29/isu-establishes-queer-studies-certificate/

Illinois State University (ISU) launched an undergraduate queer studies certificate this month. The certificate is the first of its kind in the state.

The certificate, launched by the school’s Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) Program, builds on the existing queer studies concentration. Current students in the concentration can transfer into the certificate.

“The Certificate recognizes students’ advanced coursework in LGBTQ+ and sexuality studies,” said Dr. Jacklyn Weier, assistant director of the center. “It will appear on transcripts and indicate students’ preparedness to professionally engage with people regardless of their backgrounds.”

Illinois State University if offering degrees with limited career potential. Employers will be asking themselves if they want a graduate who thought this major was a good idea.

Maybe some future graduate will sue for fraud.

UC Irvine claims this on their website: https://www.humanities.uci.edu/genderandsexualitystudies/what-can-i-do-gender-sexuality-studies-degree

So, graduates gain “skills” but aren’t qualified for anything.

  1. SAD reality of public/private SHRM/HR partnerships and platforms and AI use.

You get a better “score” and points when you apply and your resume shows you are an “ally” and use those terms- all local big orgs and universities are using the same employment app “affirmative action” modeled and profiling application tracking systems and scorecard use. Its bad for everyone except those at the top implementing it all. DEI is quite embedded in Central Illinois and a selling point for those online and resume applications. Blocking many people out of local job options entirely. Many flaws in the systems, process and use/abuse of data and hiring practices for sure (Illinois the model).

  2. There’s one good thing about our being conquered by Muslims, and make no mistake we are. Western Europe mostly is already. Anyway, this whole LGBTQRZ thang will disappear, FAST! Hip Hip Hoorah for that!!!!!!!

  3. Being a DEI participant and “Ally” is part of the higher job matrix scoring for getting jobs at most every HR dept in McLean County anymore. Very sad affirmative action built into every hiring system calling it AI and “efficiency” and profiling.

HR hiring process/platforms and Human Capital Management systems are bad in B-N especially.

Yes. That’s like asking a photographer or graphic artist to do a project for the “exposure” instead of a fee

  5. I am so fed up with all this gay crap!
I was raised to be non judgmental and look at a person’s character not their sexuality.
All I have ever asked is to keep your sexuality out of my face what you do behind closed doors is your business and all these people have done is to constantly shove their life style into my face to the point where I have made statements like bring the Muslims in as they will destroy all those that indulge in the gay lifestyle, how sad
What if we have a straight pride month how would that go over today to have parades that demonstrate the straight lifestyle not like the gay parade shown some time ago of a nude man with plastic penis’s taped all over his body dancing down the street!

  6. Let’s figure out a way to legalize discrimination and call it inclusion. Who’s worse the ones that invented it or the ones that fell for it?

  7. A WGSS degree is a great ticket to the world of hourly retail food service.
