July 1, 2025 State gas tax is increasing to 48.3 cents per gallon. https://tax.illinois.gov/research/publications/bulletins/fy-2025-23.html

Meanwhile Springfield politicians still don’t have enough money so they are considering a per mile tax too. Add another 8 cents per gallon for Bloomington and Normal.

2)

The 1% Sales Tax for schools goes into effect July 1, 2025. Your property tax bills will not go down, they might increase at a slower rate.

3)

May 1st Bloomington’s second 33% water rate increase went into effect. Next May 1st they increase another 33%. They already increase 33% last year.

4)

Electricity rates for both Bloomington and Normal are increasing July 1, 2025 from 8.324 cents per kilowatt-hour to 10.899 cents per kilowatt-hour.

Below are sales tax rates for Bloomington and Normal BEFORE the above increases. https://mytax.illinois.gov/_/#4

Have you noticed nobody mentions where the cannabis tax (14.75%) goes or how much is collected? Notice local governments still don’t have enough money?

  3. The local birdcage liner paper headline states
“Report: Illinois must build 227K units in 5 years to keep up with housing demand”
