Missing from the story is the background of why the 14th Amendment was passed. It’s not easy to add an amendment, so why it exists is important to the story.
In 1857 the Supreme Court ruled in Dred Scott v. Stanford no black of African descent could be a citizen.
Still think decisions by people in black robes are always right?
The 14th Amendment was passed to overturn this decision. End of story!
It was not intended to allow babies of people in this country illegally to be US citizens.
The United States v. Wong Kim Ark case mentioned in the article conferred citizenship on a child of LEGAL immigrants. NO Supreme Court has ruled on citizenship for babies of illegals.
As seen by Dred Scott v. Stanford, the Supreme, Court does make really bad decisions.

Prosecutors alleged Liu and Dong’s company “USA Happy Baby” helped several hundred birth tourists between 2012 and 2015 and charged as the tourists much as $40,000 for services including apartment rentals during their stays in Southern California.
(Now where is that graduation certificate . . .)
Another failure by Congress to end this in the early 1900’s when they knew the slaves probably had all of the children they would have and there was no need to continue with it.
It absolutely needs to be ended and maybe even made retroactive. Future generations are going to pay dearly for it. You think SS is underfunded now just wait. Pop a baby out and it becomes a citizen and then they go back to the country of origin and collect SS in the future. As I recall it was pretty well known one local employer’s offshore employees took advantage of it.
White people need to be declared an endangered species and given all the protections before they go the way of the dodo bird.
