Destroying Farmland for Chicago

Printed below is what reader sent to me. The writer wants to remain anonymous.

Yes, the power generated, just like the wind turbines, will be sent to Chicago. The quality of life in McLean County suffers because Chicago is raping local farmland for electricity they aren’t allowed to generate themselves. In my opinion the County should refuse this project as a scam. The writer below has other requests. This stack is what the solar developer submitted to the County. I’m sure every word hasn’t read by anyone:

  1. You can thank King Koos and Tari Renner for embracing Obama’s marxist footsteps and fundamentally transforming this area. No amount of time will change my opinion regarding these two.

  2. And don’t forget about all those currently in power locally they all walk in lockstep with koos and Renner!

  3. This is what happens when you have a county board of all city people and socialist who claim they research and know about farm ground. Where are our rural board members? You never hear from them. I know some of the owners selling out and they haven’t lived here in years! Can’t believe these greedy people. My family has been approached by these lying slime balls to use our farm ground for solar and wind. We would never even consider it as our family has owned it for five generations. This farm ground is some of the best in the Midwest. McLean County is going downhill fast and whenever you think they can’t find something else to sink it down lower they always amaze me and do.

  4. It’s not just McLean county. There’s Panther Grove wind farm being built south of Minonk with current center of operations at IL 251 and the I-39 exit for route 116. Just north of Minonk also on IL 251 is what appears to be a new solar installation by Nexamp. I don’t live close to either of those, but I do live in the middle of the wind farm around Rutland, and the turbines are noisy enough. It’s all such a waste.

Regarding McLean county refusing the project, I was under the impression that state law says a project such as a wind farm or solar farm can’t be rejected. I don’t have the story in front of me right now, but I have seen multiple stories about Utica trying to refuse a project. The state is essentially telling them they have no choice in the matter. So much for democracy, huh?

  5. The McLean County wind farm electricity was never going to stay local. Originally, the electricity was bid on by companies. Commonwealth Edison had their eyes on it from the start. There was no surprise with that.
