WGLT posted this NPR story: https://www.npr.org/2025/07/15/g-s1-77658/national-poll-shows-widespread-american-support-for-federally-funded-public-radio
As the title states, a national poll showed widespread support for tax dollar funded public radio.
Of course NPR says federally funded instead of tax dollar.
You have to read to the bottom of the story to find out the survey was conducted on-line. The story doesn’t say where they found the 2089 people who participated.
Side note: I participate in a few surveys various left wing organizations email to me. My answers are meant to distort opinions and push the organization even farther left. I doubt the survey results are even used, the purpose of the emails is to get contributions. The GOP sends surveys too but you can’t submit answers without donating. They likely get better results that way and few opinions.
At the bottom of this story is an email address to get the methodology used. I sent an email and got many pages – I think there are 85 pages in one file and 75 in the other.
I’m not reading every page! It isn’t necessary to see trends, below are some screenshots. If you are reading on a phone, sorry. These will be difficult to read.
60% of participants were white. The number of woman plus man doesn’t equal the total. The percentages listed are meaningless since they don’t total 100%. I don’t know what they mean. Participants over age 65 for both are the majority by age group.

This survey wants you to believe more Republicans than Democrats support public funding and more Independents than Democrats do. That’s funny considering the NPR staff has been shown to be partisan democrats: https://washingtonstand.com/news/npr-has-zero-republicans-87-democrats-on-editorial-staff-says-senior-editor-

Below is one of the files I received, the other has much of the same information. You can read other results for yourself. Page 6 breaks down age groups that use NPR for weather alerts. I seriously doubt more 18-34 years olds really rely on public radio weather alerts than people over 65.
The survey is flawed and therefore the results are. Press should never be funded by government because they are beholden to government for money. It’s a simple concept most people understand.
If NPR is really popular they shouldn’t have trouble raising money and selling advertising. Every other media does if their product has value.

I say do away with NPR & WGLT.
